I think that's the biggest reason that IRS needs to be available as an option or standard feature.

New enblem.

"We lifted the head to make the pony more proud, tipped the neck into the wind to give it a feeling of greater speed and better balance... It’s more chiseled and more defined and looks more like a wild horse... It’s more realistic in terms of proportion to an actual Mustang.”

Dunno about that.. The last IRS sucked so bad the road racers swapped in the stick axle. They need to design the car from the ground up for one or the other. Both doesnt work.

that went into the current 3-link set up is completely ignored
The only problem with the 3 link setup is it sucks over bumps. Otherwise its a good setup, mind you its the one the competitors across the road have been using on fbodies for damn near 30 years.

the chassis on the S197 is more rigid then a SN95 with a FULL roll cage.
No offense but that isn't saying much. You could drive an sn95 up on a 2 foot curve and only one wheel would be off the ground. The new chasis is much more workable then the previous, respectable even.. but its not a new standard either.

Interesting. I'd heard plenty about people dumping the IRS for drag racing, but not road racing. I wouldn't mind a watt's link rear suspension setup. The current 3-link doesn't get the respect it deserves, but people can't get past the solid rear axle. Hopefully they can get a good IRS in just for the sake of avoiding more random criticism.

It would be harder to find a racer with one then without. The wats links and pan hard rod setups were popular with the hardcore.

It'll be interesting to see if they go through with the Boss motor after they release Ecoboost versions.

I don't know what to think of it yet. It looks like all Mustangs are getting the current GT500 grill treatment. I really hope the next one has dimensions more similar to the foxbody. Of course, this wasn't supposed to be an entirely new model or anything.

Spiffu 09-09-2008 08:03 PM

There's no change, dunno why they have camo on it.

MidEngine4Life 09-09-2008 08:41 PM

Doesnt look much different. Camaro and Challenger still look better. We'll see how it turns out.

P.S. is that a rear diffuser I see? Mustang + Aerodynamics = Wha?
