The big man never ceases to amaze!

Well done TT, you deserve every little bit of that burner!!

stradale 12-21-2004 01:04 PM

Very very nice gift, Jabba! I'm sure TT will enjoy it. "Burn, motherfucker. Burn."

Like I said before, you deserve it, TT!

Wutputt 12-21-2004 02:21 PM

Wow, a Dual Layer DVD burner! I even didn't know they already existed. I'm apparently way behind on the new hot PC stuff :)

Congrats, TT. You'll certainly enjoy your Santa Jabba present a lot. Know you can copy DVD's without the need to shrink/compress the movie and deleting the extra's. What a gift!!!

Hehe, I can admit I download some porn every now and then, but as for DVDs, I'd rather buy originals as I always did :D

fishfreek 12-21-2004 08:54 PM

Thats awsome. No more complants about no disk space from you allowed.

TT 12-21-2004 09:11 PM

I just discovered it takes around 60 minutes to burn a full 4.7 GB DVD at 2.4x (didn't want to use the full speed (4x).. kinda different from the 7 minutes for a CDR :D

fishfreek 12-21-2004 09:18 PM

Ya. But still thats a load of data on that disk. I remember when HD's that where 4gig where BIG... haha

Yep but then a full CD doesnt hold 4.7 GB and the full speed of that writer is X 16 so it should burn a full 4.7 GB disc in under 10 mintues I think...and that would make your CD burner seem very very slow indeed if that only manages 700 MB in 7 minutes.

TT 12-21-2004 09:38 PM

Sure, but I still prefer to burn slower just to be sure it will be burned better ;) anyway well, the PC was created for such stuff, would be pointless if everything would take just a millisecond :P

Jabba 12-21-2004 09:41 PM

In fact I am still trying to find out how fast x 16 would burn a full disc...it could be under 5 mins !!! that is if you could get X16 media cheap enough that is.

Jabba 12-21-2004 09:45 PM

This is what I was looking for :

Single Layer(4.7GB) write speeds
1x (CLV) = about 58 minutes
2x (CLV) = about 29 minutes
2.4x (CLV) = about 24 minutes
4x (CLV) = about 14.5 minutes
6x (CLV/ZCLV) = about 10-12 minutes
8x (PCAV/ZCLV) = about 8-10 minutes
12x (PCAV/ZCLV) = about 6.5-7.5 minutes
16x (CAV/ZCLV) = about 6-7 minutes

Dual/Double Layer(8.5GB) write speeds
1x CLV = about 105 minutes
2.4x CLV = about 44 minutes
4x CLV = about 27 minutes

TT 12-22-2004 05:14 AM

Actually at 2.4x it took me more than 60 minutes to burn around 4.2 GB I think :?:

MadMax 12-22-2004 05:57 AM

thats probably because you are stuck with usb1.0 controller vy the sounds of it TT ;)

usb 1.0 = 1.5mb/s
usb 1.1 = 12mb/s
usb 2.0 = 480mb/s

TT 12-22-2004 06:04 AM

LOL yes that's it :D and no, I don't need faster speed, so I won't buy a damn USB 2.0 card and open the PC case once more :D
