Any videogame dorks here?

I am one, I confess.
I've got a PS2 and an Xbox with many games of reach.
I'm currently addicted to Moto GP2 for the Xbox. Awesome racing game.
Anyone else here a videogame dork?

PyroZona 06-07-2003 02:12 AM

Well, I'd say I identify with half of that, 666...the video game part, lol. I don't spend enough time playing to be considered in the "dork" league though. I've got a PS2 that I chipped and about 130 games for it...but the only one I really play regularly is Gran Turismo 3. I have Moto GP 2, but just don't like it on the PS2. Maybe it's better on the XBox, I haven't played that version. Maybe if someone would make an XBox controller that was actually comfortable, I'd get an XBox. Until then, I'm stayin with my PS2.

i play computers every now and again,i own a ps2 and a gamecube and last week me and my cousin bought the gameboy advance sp for a laugh, turns out the games are pretty addictive, plus i been stuck in traffic a couple days ago so it was pretty handy y i was just sittin there

Flawless 06-07-2003 11:06 AM

Got ps2. If anyone wants a preety cool racing game after GT3 for Ps2, get Tokyo extreme racing zero. Awsome game.

You ride around on the highways of Tokyo looking for racers to challenge. You win money by beating them. With the money you can buy exhaust, engines, even BODY KITS. which you can customize wtih spoilers, wide fenders and mirrors. This is the best street racing game out if you want more to do with your cars.

gis 06-07-2003 11:30 AM

theres a new street racing game comin out in july i think it is.i dunno the name,i cant remember it,but it has official cars in it,like skylines,s2000 etc,you race for money, pink slips, you can get girlfriends by doin better and then you can put your girlfriend on the line in a race, lol

it sounds pretty cool

yunet 06-07-2003 11:33 AM

I have PS2..And my favorite game (I think most car enthusiasts do) is Gran Turismo 3! That's the best racing game so far.....Now I'm looking foward to Gran Turismo 4 released in 2004!!

You don't consider yourself a dork and you have 130 games? :?
LOL, I've got about 15 and I have had my PS2 since it came out.

Tokyo Extreme Racer is cool, but a little drawn out, finding all those wanderers is a waste.

PyroZona 06-07-2003 03:05 PM

Well, no....frankly, I didn't say I bought 130 games, did I? 8)

I've had my PS2 since it first came out as well. I actually got mine the day they were released here in the U.S. (actually, I have had several since then). I've only actually purchased about 5 games, though. If I'd actually paid for all those (pretty much) crappy games, then I'd be putting myself in the "idiot" category! lol

Personally, I didn't like Tokyo Extreme Racer at ALL. I thought the car physics sucked, as did the controls. I guess I'm spoiled by GT3....heh.

Can't wait for GT4 to come out either!!

Pyro

mitsu_3kgt_ads 06-07-2003 08:22 PM

I've had GT3 for a year and a half now and I'm just 70% done with it. Hot Shots Golf 3 is pretty addictive too.

fedezyl 06-07-2003 09:37 PM

I've got a FFW for my PC, and F1 2002 from EA sports, I also have the GTR 2002 mod for it....wow...what can I say...it's as close i'll get to driving a great sports car for a while...

666fast 06-08-2003 03:14 AM

fedezyl, I know what you mean about F1 2002. I'm currently trying to get my hands on a copy.

As for GT3, it was the worst one of the series in my opinion. GT4 better be good.

DEEB0rider 06-09-2003 12:32 AM

whats the GTR2002 mod???

fedezyl 06-09-2003 01:34 AM

basically F1 2002 is just that, a F1 racing game for the PC, but some people, including professional drivers made a mod, a game within the game, in which you drive a Modena, Maranello, Marcos Mantis, 911 turbo and gt2 I think, and Lister Storm, all in a racing category that I don't remember right now, it's just amazing, from tuning the car, to driving it on a FFW...my arms get numb after a race...recently they came up with the Ferrari Challenge, all 360 modena, really cool..
You can check their web page at
http://www.sbdt.co.uk/forums/

666fast 06-09-2003 02:09 AM

There is also an M3 challenge and a Alfa Romeo challenge. Cool stuff, someof the people who make these cars are really talented.

novass 06-09-2003 08:38 AM

i'm starting to imagine you as one of those geeks in one simpson episode where homer hangs around the geeks in college. later when they were met by snake, the gave their wallets under wallet inspection haha :P

JSpec 06-09-2003 11:46 AM

Well, what can I say. Gran Turismo 3 is still the ultimate driving game. I heard that they are making Gran Turismo 4 and it's going to have more cars than the previous parts combined. (1000 cars ?)

Yikes- that would be insane.

Lets hope for some more German/British/American cars this time.
Is it for the PS2 or the PS3?

its for the ps2.they are makin it online for the ps2 aswell

Banchi105 06-09-2003 02:29 PM

Sounds awesome - May have to pick up a PS2 for that one.

I loved the First Gran Turismo - And 3 is good also - I just dont think it was worth buying a PS2 just for number 3 though.

But if 4 has 1000 cars /$200. Thats like $0.50 a car! :D

666fast 06-09-2003 04:20 PM

I'll be surprised if GT4 comes with 1000 cars. My guess is that it'll have a couple hundred like usual and then you will be able to download more off the internet.

I'll also have to disagree with GT being the ultimate driving game. Anyone ever play F355 Challenge? Not that is a challenging game.
A few gripes with GT3 are:
6 car fields
Stupid AI
Being able to bounce off of walls in a corner and not slow down
Driving off road and not slowing down
many others, overall it's a decent game but not the best

ROTFLMAO    wouldnt happen cause im too scared to go outside....im not that big of a geek, just once i get started its hard to stop collectin shit, i save everything. i still have my first surfboard from 15 years ago....shut up i may still need it

F1 2002 is good then huh, i guess ill have to go get it

1000 cars on GT4? hopefully we can see some more exotics and better cars. i dont need to race little Toyota minivans. i hope they make the performance mods better too, i mean why the fuck cant i put a turbo on a Vette? and where are the superchargers?

Flawless 06-09-2003 09:36 PM

GT3 is the Ultimate Driving game. Yes news is that 4 will have around 1000 cars and ALOT more racing courses. I think that was my biggest complaint , the courses were too little to choose from. That and how little BMW cars it had =(.

GT4 will almost be completly online.

666fast 06-10-2003 12:35 AM

My biggest complaint was that there was only 6 cars to a race.

DRUB 06-10-2003 04:35 AM

Well, i like playing games but they are nt limited to the racing type, RTSm first person, racing etc. On the topic of car racing, anyone played Need for Speed Hot persuit 2? I think its the best driving game i have ever played. I have yet to play GT3, so the jury is still out

Have you ever played F355 Challenge in the arcade?
With the actual transmission & clutch setup? - That was the most realistic simulation I have ever driven. Every time I find that game somewhere I always end up blowing $15 playing it for half an hour or so- It rocks! :)

666fast 06-10-2003 03:01 PM

I sure have played it in an arcade. It is one challenging game. I've spent a lot of money on that thing. It's the first racing game I've played where there was an actual functioning clutch.
Awesome game, if anyone gets the chance to play the arcade game, fo it. It isnt easy, but it's so much fun.

Kilalee 06-10-2003 03:12 PM

1000 cars! That would be incredible, it would be kinda like GT2 with all the used cars you can start with along with many-many more plus the fact you get to see them all updated! Awsome............ I can't wait (I hope this isn't a rumor to get my hopes up).

SDK2003 06-11-2003 02:41 PM

I'm not a fan of Consoles anymore, used to own a SNES and spent many hours playing SF2 and Mario Kart.

Now I'm an online gaming PC addict
Total Annihilation & Unreal Tournament have been the games I’ve been dedicating the last 4-5 years playing

Flawless 06-11-2003 09:59 PM

I use to love PC gaming. But after a while, waiting months after you bought a game for PC for it to be working normally just sucked.

Anonymous 06-12-2003 05:33 AM

Im a On Line freak 2. There just isnt any better way to have a kick ass time than ow3ng some fool On Line LooL FPS's and Deathmatches!!!
Ive been playing Half Life since it was in beta.

Banchi105 06-12-2003 10:25 AM

Half-Life 2 This September - I Cant Wait! :)
It looks so incredibly awesome!

JN396 06-12-2003 07:12 PM

oh man! I used to play ps2; but it broke on me so now I'm s straight pc gamer. Rite now I'm currently playing rainbow 6: ravenshield...it's the best life-like tactical game ever! I also have original nes titles on my computer emulated by "nesticle" haha it's pretty good too..from titles of super mario 1,2,3 to excite bike and castlevania....reminds me of the good ol days of 8 bit graphix!

Flawless 06-13-2003 11:46 PM

emulators are the greatest thing to happen to the comp since porn.

i second that motion!!!

i remeber seeing a site that offered a stand up arcade game that could use all the emulators, well i suppose you could build one with a comp and monitor, i think i found another project to work on

haha604 06-14-2003 10:35 AM

I like to play Ferrari F355 challenge too. That game rocks. Usually play it once a day in the school's arcade.

I wonder if Jabba has tried it. I would like to see if the arcade experience is anything like the real thing.

I would be shocked at that. The only game that ever really captured speed was BURNOUT for ps2 =). No other car game really gets your heart racing when your going fast.

Ziploc 06-15-2003 12:04 AM

if its driving sims you want theres not better than

live for speed!!

XyKo 06-15-2003 01:54 AM

I stop playing console games since last year. I own an Xbox, GBA, PS2, PSX, DC. I was busy with college, so I stop playing them. Now I'm addicted to diablo2 (which I always was) and Medal of Honor(Mohaa the best FPS game).

When it first came out, there was talk about it being used to train drivers in the Ferrari challenge races. It's not a game to get your heart pumping. It's about the satisfaction of winning a race. Which is no easy feat. It is a very challenging game. Even the Dreamcast and PS2 version are very hard. It's a game that needs to be played with a steering wheel to get the most of.

Ziploc, Live For Speed was cool, but I quickly got bored with 4 tracks and three cars. It was quite good for a little while though.

haha604 06-15-2003 11:00 AM

Yes its a damn challenging game. The first time I played I couldn't even finish the short Suzuka track. I don't know how a F355 handles, but the car in the game handles like a MR sportscar. All other game I've played like GT3 does not do justice to thwe word "simulation". One nitpick about the game though is that the screen seems to be moving too slowly for 250km/hr. Otherwise its great. Of course a G-force simulator addon would make it even better. I love this game so much that I bought a Dreamcast just to play this game :D .

I have, it was so,so... bigest thing about dc games is the controler sux and it isnt a online game. I played one player greats like syphon filter, Parasite Eve, and Metal Gear Solid. I played MGS at least 20 times s to f !! On all levels. There will never be a game like it that was the best game along with Eve.
But Ive graduated into fucking other people so if it aint online I dont look at it....

gis 06-17-2003 04:16 PM

can u guys get the first parasite eve,it was never released here in the uk but number 2 was and i love it,if anyone can hook me up with the first one id appreciate it :D

JN396 06-17-2003 04:21 PM

JN396 06-17-2003 04:51 PM

Honestly; I don't know bro about compatibility...if this helps you any my ps1 is ntsc compliant. I don't think they made diff formats of games for the ps1... check out www.half.com and do a search for parasite eve... there are a couple of original copies around the $10 usd mark...
