Top Gear - S9 EP4 - 18th February, 2007 - Discussion

Quote:

Jeremy finds a touch of the night in the new Porsche 911 Turbo, The Stig tears up the track in an insanely-tuned Mercedes SL, and Richard and James make one small stumble for man as they attempt to build a working space shuttle out of a Reliant Robin. Plus, Hot Fuzz actor Simon Pegg is the Star In A Reasonably Priced Car.

5vz-fe 02-09-2007 01:49 AM

Looking @ the preview so far, looks like Topgear and 5th Gear are going to opposite ends LOL. I hope the Turbo will go around in a dry track.

ARMAN 02-09-2007 08:14 AM

Reliant building will be a laugh but I am afraid I know what wil happen - Richard will try to add million of different stupid gismo's and all of them will be glued to the interior so they can fall down while James will explain him that its all "rubbish" and try to put a leather sofa inside

martin100 02-09-2007 07:16 PM

Sounds like a great ep once again :D 997 Turbo!!! The Reliant Robin shuttle build thing will surely be hilarious! And the Brabus SV12 S

TopGearNL 02-09-2007 07:27 PM

This is going to be an awesome episode! :D

poltz 02-12-2007 12:54 AM

997TT, nice.. although a bit late.

Now they just need to test the R8, LP640, GT3 RS and the 599GTB.

And that's it.

r2r 02-12-2007 04:52 AM

Finally getting back to the roots of testing interesting and exciting cars!

Stoopie 02-12-2007 05:03 AM

Can't wait, again :D

Firdosh7747 02-13-2007 12:21 PM

No idea... yet

I'm interested what this "insanely-tuned" SL is and the lap time for the 997T. The 996T did a pretty poor lap time in the rain.

Strap yourselves in ladies and gentlemen, because this week's Top Gear is even more power-crazed than usual.

Jeremy goes seriously schnell as he takes the latest 720bhp creation, from mentalist German manufacturer Brabus for a spin on the test track.

We give Porsche's latest 911 Turbo flagship a full shake down, and see whether the everyday supercar has become a bit, well, everyday.

And Richard and James embark on Top Gear's biggest ever challenge, as they try to turn a Reliant Robin into a space shuttle. Trust us, you really, really don't want to miss this.

Plus comedy actor Simon Pegg will be joining us in the studio and doing his bit on the test track in our reasonably priced car.

poltz 02-14-2007 11:49 PM

CAN'T... WAIT... !

HeilSvenska 02-15-2007 12:40 AM

"Salivating in anticipation"

Stikz 02-15-2007 08:36 PM

Looks fantastic. It must really burn Tiff and Plato that they are stuck with 2nd Gear.

novass 02-15-2007 08:42 PM

Cant wait to see the Brabus  :D

martin100 02-16-2007 05:08 PM

was a great episode tonight, funny as usual.the review of the 997 turbo was good, personally i beleive it is to date one of the best all round cars.the Brabus mercedes......well indeed the power is brutal, but impossible to drive as quick as you would beleive.

the space shuttle test.....amazing,impressed at the result i must admit. :D

gucom 02-18-2007 05:15 PM

pagani 02-18-2007 06:14 PM

Love the porsche feature i would love to see what could do round the track the topgear space shuttel was well funny.
And the brabus was cool but further a useless for anything less than a straight road.
Overall this episode was pretty good.
:D

jon_s 02-18-2007 06:36 PM

The Brabus was crazy - twitching everywhere! I still love it though :)

novass 02-18-2007 11:37 PM

Good ep IMO.

I love the 997 Turbo and the feature was pretty good but I would have liked to see it go around the track.

I thought the Robin Space Shuttle bit was great. There were a lot of funny moments and the end result was great. It did a whole lot better than I thought it would and who wouldn't love the huge explosion at the end?

The Brabus was as I expected it to be.....too much LOL I still like the car but I already had a feeling that the thing was overkill.

racingfreak 02-19-2007 11:26 AM

Cant wait to watch it, cant wait...aaaagh! 34% downloaded...

At times it looked like the wheels were warping!

SPEEDKILLAR 02-19-2007 04:49 PM

The Porsche part was too short, too bad, but he made some good points why someone would go for the Turbo instead of the Ferrari. And I like the light effects they used, couldn't get enough of that.

The Reliant shuttle, first I was sceptical, but it turned out quite nice, and they put a considerable amount of work in to it, too bad the main booster didn't come off and it crashed like a missile to the ground, wich was also quite nice to see, BIG BOOM.

And the Brabus, WOW, way too short imo, I wanted him to go on the german autobahn and go at the speed it is capable of, just to see that thing fly by when you are doing 250 km/h must be awesome. Besides that I liked the rims and the 12 piston callipers and the huge discs, the car had an evil presence about it, just to know that you have a monster of an engine, maybe if it was 4 wheel drive it would corner better and accelerate way faster, because we have to keep in mind, that it is still detuned, so the added weight wouldn't make that much difference if they would let is as it is, FULL POWER. But that would be nearly impossible and way too expensive, too bad.

McLaren4eVa 02-20-2007 05:50 AM

The porsche feature was great but no lap which was very dissapointing as i would have loved to have seen how fast it was compared to the ferrari f430.

The reliant feature was really funny and i was on the edge of my sofa waiting for the for the final fuel tank on the rocket to drop off, instead just another huge bang but great entertainment.

The brabus feature was great aswel. I also get the feeling now that there are going to be a hell of a lot more plug-ins just so they can get the big actors in.

Jabba 02-21-2007 05:50 AM

I guess its your lucky day

stmoritzer 02-21-2007 06:11 AM

Added my comments to each feature already in the VV, but the space shuttle challenge blew me away, simply AWESOME!!

the best challenge they ever did and a expensive one...
not to speak about the difficulties to launch such a thing.
Big respect that it flew from beginning (that rocket isn't symmetric with the shuttle on top and the size is impressive for a model rocket ) , too bad the seperation of the shuttle didn't work, they were very close. From the explosion at the end, I think there was some fuel in the main booster which didn't went off earlier :hmm:

Thanks Jabba!
