THey are lacking some VERY important details....
improvement over the KR... WEIGHT! tires aren't as sticky... but that is easily remedied :) |

I still think the shelby should have the shelby style taillights that the original concept had.

I like the new ones much better after seeing them with my own eyes. It's instantaneously recognizable as a Mustang, but does so without resorting to oh-so-obvious cues. And it's quite interesting looking otherwise, actually. The first one, I thought looked a bit too flat. Literally. The new one adds so much more dimension. ;-) |
I hope they have fixed the handling problems
Otherwise great looking car |

Suspension is carryover from the KR... KR owners are likely going to be a bit upset with the new 500. |

Btw i was talking about the normal gt500 not the kr or supersnake. |

Thats awesome, and 40hp+ makes it even better.

Its a good looking car,i hope it handles like it looks. Lets see what Roush can do with this car too.
|
Will their be a super snake or kr version of it?
|
that thing looks so gooooooood 8-)

Other than the 67 Mustang, I have never really cared for them. This one, in my opinion, and excluding that "bend over and relax your muscles" first color pictured, is the best looking to date. Again, not including the 67 in the mix.

Hopefully the Ford dealers will not see the "GT 500" label as code for "$30,000 Markup".
There have been some great cars recenly, but when yu see the SAME car on the dealers lot 7 moths later, you would think that theyget a clue that just because they think a 2008 GT500 Convertible is worth sticker + $15,000, that doesnt mean the buying public thinks so ;) The local Roush approved Ford dealer still has the same 10 or so 427/427R/428's on the lot they had 8 months ago. They have just moved them from the front of the dealership, to the enxtdoor Used Car property. I loved the test drive in the 427R TrakPak, and the Gt500 felt like fun... but they were not $60,000-fun. That is my only complaint about the ne "hot" domestics. Price. |
That is a terrific point. Price will always be a factor that keeps these things sitting on the lots and not in more garages. The prices that are being asked for these GT500s is silly.

The car is slightly heavier than the older version, by about 20 pounds- maybe less if you opt out for the Shaker 1000 audio system. This car still uses an iron block up front since the Ford GT block was engineered as a dry sump setup. If the car was 300 lbs lighter, that is an awful lot of weight to be removed out of said car. If memory serves me, the new GT500FR competition version that will be used in the Miller Motorsport challenge is about 300 lbs less than a regular production version GT and the FR is a stripped out race car.
