R33 GTR wrapped around tree
Skylines here are getting rare, there are quite a few accidents with Skylines of late.
More pics at http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14826 http://bigteethygrin.spymac.net/pics/crash/CIMG0791.JPG http://bigteethygrin.spymac.net/pics/crash/CIMG0792.JPG http://bigteethygrin.spymac.net/pics/crash/CIMG0800.JPG |
When it comes to sports cars vs trees..... the later usually come out as a winner.
|
i know that street
|
good thing the steering wheel is put on the right side or else the driver could of been seriously hurt..... or dead.
|
looking at the second pic, it's not hard to see how it happend. He came drifting around the bend in the top left, couldn't reign it in, back tires launched upward when it found the drive way, picked a fight with the tree and lost...BAD. Apparently his passenger survived with minor scrapes.
lucky occupants, poor car, one hell of a strong tree  |
Poor Owner and Poor Car!!
The roads also seem wet, but in a 4WD car......i think the the power bias is 40/60 on the GTR's right? this is hard on the eyes for sure! :( |
How come no one looks at from the perspective of the tree, i bet the trees saying "he came out of no where, i swear!!" How safe are skylines by the way, i assume not as safe as volvos but are they reasonably safe in accidents?
|
Not as bad as that white skyline at Tugun :O
I wonder if that has been posted here... Does anyone from Aus know what I'm talking about and could they confirm its post-status? Damn Skylines, giving us "P" platers a bad name. |
oops.... sucks for that guy. and once again, trees:1 cars:0 enviromentalist: i dunno yet.

Anyways damn him for destroying a beautiful car, good thing eveyone got out without serious injury though. |
I wonder if it was a daddy's boy's car with friends, or if it was daddy's car while out on a trip. Either way, I wonder what his face looked like as he was heading for the tree, oh and, he's a dumb bastard for destroying that car.
|
Let me just say he deserves it for painting the car such a GIRLY ugly color.
|
I don't know if this is a repost or not, but this happened here a little while ago, I drove past it when they were serperating it from the tree.
http://www.boostcruising.com/databas...funnyfile1.jpg And more recently here in Aus, http://www.boostcruising.com/databas...funnyfile1.jpg Was Vs. Telegraph pole. |
Hmmm.. seems to be a common occurance.
Could this be proof that while the R34 is a fast tyre squealing drifting saloon-style car - it's so far from a sports car it's not funny. I would love to have a go against an R34 through the backroads around these parts.. |
^^ it is a real drivers car RC...its just young drivers with little to no brains think they know it all and end up around the tree in most cases.
Thanks for that pic of the white R33 Mezevenf. I never saw that on the news here. |
thats just plain sad... it brought a tear to my eye. for thesew people to abuse such fine cars when you cant get them here.........
|
no brains and to much money spent on doing up the car without actually learning how to drive it at speed safely.

We got some strong ass trees here in aussie. Damn that thing warped pretty badly, lucky there were no deaths.
|
if i saw that car in person, i wouldve died. if i were that kids dad, HE wouldve died!
|
Btw, the two pic's I posted all oocupants died. The white R33 driver actually didnt die until in hospital (how he even survived that at all surprises me) and the blue one had 3 people in the car, one was a pregnant girl.
The blue skyline wasn't even owned by the driver, it was his dads car. A very nice Skyline too. EVL R34 I think was the number plate. The pics both came from www.boostcruising.com, an Australian site. |
The R3x series are 4 seater coupes based on the utilitarian Nissan Skyline sedan.
The Skyline Sedan is like the Japanese version of the Ford Crown Victoria.. the normal use taxi's, cop cars and rentals.. with many being family sedans. This was the original appeal of the Skyline Coupe... it took the family workhorse sedan, removed 2 doors and added a powerful engine... wow... just like Ford, GM and Chrylser did in the 60's.. ;) |
my bad, deaths like that are super not cool. Damn :(

Some people should not get behind the wheel, I don't care if they get themselves killed, thats fine but its usally someone completely innocent that ends up paying for stupid peoples stupidity :x :x :x |
am i the only one that can't see the pics? :bad-words:

I think an R34 would put a smack down on your 'Vette, RC. Especially on the track or the b-roads where traction comes into play. Still, it seems people are crashing Skylines like crazy in Aussieland. |
Thats because too many young drivers can get their hands on them dirt cheap (or steal their dads car).
Stupid P platers :) |
Actually I think a big part is that they're so easy to drive fast. At the limit they aren't necessarily faster than a lot of other sports cars, but its really easy to get close to that limit with that awesome AWD system. So when an inexperienced driver loses it in a skyline, he's going a lot faster than he would be in another sportscar...
|
Accidents happen but you can tell by the length from where the corner is too where he crashed he was driving like an idiot. Its funny reading the thread on ozhonda, ppl are actually defending his actions... the speed limit in suburban areas is 50km'h in oz I dont see that as a 50km'h accident. Changing cd's? potholes? please...
I saw a green skyline wrapped around a pole just b4 Xmas, wasnt a pretty site, both occupants died  |

I remember someone mentioning that the AWD system of the GTR is not constant, its computer controlled and kicks in when it has to, its a great weapon because it mimised understeer that way but to the inexperinced it can catch you off guard. I see a lot of accidents with WRX's for instance, I consider them one of the safest cars built, in my experince you have to be doing something incredbly stupid to get into an accident but there are LOTS of WRX accidents here. I think its parallel to the 'Volvo driver" of the 80's, that being a safe car gives people a sense of security even when they drive really badly. In this instance like most them, it boils down to lack of experince and stupidity, not enough of the former and an huge excess of the latter. |

Its pretty sobering seeing a car accident isn't it... |

I'm one of your "my skills are so advanced after having a license for one year only" type P platers who is certain they are invincible. |

damn man ... the purple skyline was fucking beautifull ....
is the yellow one ^^ a skyline too ? |
That aint my car ;)

It is in fact on those B roads and at the track that it will lose out. It is heavy, under powered and not bestowed with fantastic handling.. it is a good car, but not as good as people think. |
Quote:
Skylines come in three varieties; non-Turbo RWD (GTS), Turbo RWD(GTS-T) and the Twin turbo AWD (GTR). Until the R34, which has only GTS-T and GTR models. Most crashes with Skylines are the garden variety RWD GTS-T, here I'd probally bet on the Vette because of more linaer engine reponse and more low end torque, despite the vette having leaf suspention. My experince with GTS-T's is that quite unstable and suspention is poor, this more proablly because the people tuning these cars (ricers) want power and the lower look, which makes a average handling car, turn horrible. The suspention can be improved but few choose to do so, that I've seen. GTR has computer controlled variable suspention, active AWD system, stablity and traction control. The R34 is another level of sophistication above the R33 GTR. Futhermore the RB28DETT engine is one the best for tuning, great power gains plus with the GTR all paw traction its able to put huge amounts of power onto the road. So much so that even the R32 GTR, won the Australian Bathurst V8 championship both years it was introduced until the rules were rewritten banning skylines form racing against Australian supercar V8's. So this all adds up to nothing when you have a idiot behind the wheel, which is usally the case when I see a Skyline  |
Looks like the yellow one was a Firebird or Transam... and damn, how the hell did that happen? Not much left there.
As for the Vette vs the GT-R, I think it would really come down to the roads. But in general I think I'd stick with RC on this one. The GT-R is a fantastic and incredibly fast car no doubt about it, but the Vette is both too focused and too powerful. |
Yeah thats true RC....i'll make some videos of the R34 gtr when my bro gets one. You will be suprised, ive only ever riden in one them, and far out they are incredible, they are so stiff and balanced. And on a track it really opens up considering the technology it has, but i dont think a vette is a fair comparison since the vette is a few leaps and bounds behind the GTR R34 technology wise.

Before the lunatic fringe get all unbent, I am by no means claiming the C5 Z to be the ultimate car... but am pointing out that the R34 is good, but not 911TT, GT3, F360CS, C5 Z good. |

some pretty ugly pics of skyline crashes. tho in that first one, if you have a skyline in that narsty color, you almost deserve to crash it. |

Can someone post a link for actual Nuremburg ring lap times? Even so in a straight line yes the vette is a lot faster, no arguments there however in around corners in a technical course... I stand by my statement until proven otherwise but I am aware that in the US Auto-X(s) its the Vettes that dominate. Quote:

You apparently have NO IDEA what the Corvette C5 Z06 is. You are also confusing the LS1 and LS2 with the LS6 motor... I will allow others to set you straight, but suffice it to say that the Z06 meets and beats those cars listed in every category except top end. (175mph vs 190mph). Whether you like it or not, the C5 Z06 is a 0-60mph in 4s, 12.3s @ 115mph, 60 - 0 mph in 105ft, 1g slalom, 175mph 7:56s Nurburgrung lapping car. (The C6 Z06 is speced to be about 1s quicker and 15mph faster) BTW - the 7:56s time is GM's own official time for the car on stock tyres with stock suspension settings. It is not a C5 Coupe - it is lighter, faster, quicker, bigger wheels/tyres, lower gearing and more powerful. Seems like the C5 Z06 doesn't get it's due credit, then when a C6 Z06 rolls up the non-bellievers are going to be blown away... ;) |
i don't want to be rude here, but you guys are comparing a fast family car, to a very fast sports car. the skylines engine has alot of potential, but thats not what's being argued. the biggest advantage a stock z06 has is the tires GM put on. while there are even better ones available, they improve the track time the most over any of difference between it and the c5. also note that they upgraded everything else on the car that means anything. more powerful engine, and suspension (set up more for a track, not just stiffened).
the z06 would win, hands down. |
