They changed the link so try this.

komotar 02-02-2007 05:27 AM

link don't work

Mattk 02-02-2007 07:14 AM

^I think they want Louis Vuitton to make the leather. :P

I hadn't heard of this anywhere, until today, so this is really news to me. This is interesting. Perhaps Ford didn't see a future with Aston Martin? Maybe they wanted spare cash?

Because they are broke and in need of a quich cash injection. They could either sell Jaguar or Aston Martin, and seeing as though Jag shares certain components with Mondeos and Range Rovers it would be much easier to part ways with Aston Martin.

Wow! I never knew Loius Vuitton owned all that stuff. Interesting. Certainly, this can be seen as a positive for Aston Martin.

let's hope something good will come off this !

My god what a joke. What does a handbag/alochol/fashion company know about the automobile industry?? I can't believe they went through with this deal.

I'm just counting down the days when AM will launch a "Special Edition" DB9/AMV8 with those vulgar LV signs all over the interior. :(

I don't think they would involve themselves in that way... They're not making that much money being stupid, and of course it's gonna be the same people managing am as in the past years, continuing making nice cars...

Yes, I'm sure the current management will run AM, but the final word will always rest with LVMH.

I'd say most automobile companies themselves don't know anything about the automobile industry either. Just look around at all the sh1t that's churned out by the likes of Ford and GM ;)

Having said that, they seem to be doing pretty well in a large variety of other sectors, so who knows, maybe they'll apply some of their succesful management of other luxury marques to Aston Martin as well.

who knows? they could have screwed up badly too... but speculating about this is rather useless. i'm looking forward to what will happen to AM

deuces 02-06-2007 02:08 PM

is there any word on what other companies are looking to buy aston?

LEXION 02-07-2007 07:07 AM

Despite rumors to the contrary, French luxury brand LVMH isn’t buying Aston Martin from Ford.

So says UK publication Autocar, who says that a spokesman for the Louis Vuitton parent company dismissed the rumor as “absolute rubbish.” LVMH is the parent company for everything from the aforementioned upscale handbag maker to TAG Heuer watches and Glenmorangie scotch.

From http://news.windingroad.com/earnings...s-forthcoming/

so no future Astons with handbags instead of seats or something :D ...i wonder how these rumors go so much...
