Face-lift for Porsche 997 in 2009 [poll added]

http://www.caranddriver.com/carnews/...carrera-s.html

I think the rear lights look absolutely amazing! They just look so much better than they do now, and they're cool now as they are already!

RC45 02-03-2007 05:24 AM

Thats nothing... think 998 ;)

yg60m 02-03-2007 05:30 AM

How to improve an already wonderful car

ae86_16v 02-03-2007 06:02 AM

Yeah, I am not sure about making the lamps bigger though. They said it would be similar to the Cayenne's and I don't really like the Cayenne that much. ;)

RC, when is the 998 schedule?

those rear lights aren't bad, but just like dani said, i prefer the current ones :)

gucom 02-03-2007 11:04 AM

hmmm when i see these thin rear lights i start dreaming of full-width lamps/reflectors as on the 993 and earlier cars... that'd make me wet my pants :P
The hearlights look a bit different i believe, with multiple lamps inside them, but the new fog lamp arrangement really looks like a boxter's imo :?

Are you sure? It is seldom that Porsche "faclift" an existing model range - they reserve the visual changes for the new models ;)

Yep, I guess other than body panels, lights, rear fenders, bumpers, wings and dimensions, they are pretty much the same ;)

The same could be said for the 993 and even between the Audi TT and a wheel barrow of elephant poop... but that doesn't mean they aren't different ;)

But I guess you could argue the subtle mid-life 996 visual changes suggested the look of the coming 997... which would mean the mid-life changes of the 997 may harken the 998 ;)

Minacious 02-03-2007 02:02 PM

That car just gets more feminine looking with age. It's a good thing it has that whole performance thing going for it.

Yea, I think im going to wait to see it in real life. In the pic it makes the car look droopy in the back or something

There was more than just a visual upgrade from the 2001 to 2002 996 facelift.

LOL no surprise.

Who want to be associated with that...?

Anyway the changes are not shocking to say the least! Good thing they perform

silentm 02-06-2007 01:23 PM

that new headlight styling looks weird :/ i prefer the single xenon light a lot more :)
otherwise i like the front bumper (dunno about the weird color scheme around the LEDs)

deuces 02-06-2007 02:24 PM

new taillights are kinda weird, but the more aggressive front bumper is definitely appreciated

Same here!

Stoopie 02-06-2007 03:51 PM

Damn I love those rear lights  Nice facelift :D

Z3uS 02-06-2007 07:46 PM

I didn't like it. I think this version now is better looking.

MIHALS 02-06-2007 08:00 PM

headlights kind of reminds me the new upcoming 2+2 porker. tail lights are too Cayman/new beetle-ish - they're getting become more high than wide :?

HarryCASI 02-09-2007 01:24 PM

...can't really see any changes... however that's what Porsche always does

acmarttin 02-10-2007 04:11 AM

If this were a poll, you could add my vote to "Liked the old one better" (and by old I mean the 930 turbo.)

Stoopie 02-10-2007 05:08 AM

^ Poll added!

Z3uS 02-12-2007 01:04 PM

Voted 996 on the poll, but having a comparison look at the 996 and 997 i think the 997 is slightly better looking.

gucom 02-12-2007 01:20 PM

the looks of the 993 were simply perfect... the 997 is obviously the better car, and it looks so much better than the 996, but it doesn't match the 993's character of looks...

Amen Gucom, Amen!

The 993 is just so sexy, best ass of them all!

harryo2b 02-12-2007 03:12 PM

Are we voting on purely outside looks? Or are we considering all around car, minus the performance numbers?

HeilSvenska 02-12-2007 07:31 PM

993's the best looking series. As for the facelift, the sagging taillamps from the Cayenne are just weird. They look sad. :(

ViperASR 02-12-2007 07:33 PM

993 Turbo is the best lookin IMO

Look at the wheels on dani's post. freaky

Stoopie 02-13-2007 02:09 PM

I voted 2009 997, I simply love the looks
