New Corvette ZO6 pictures, info... Best Bang for Buck Ever?

This thing is amazing! 500hp, 3100lbs and $60k USD. It has one of the best power to weight ratios in the world. Look at this... Looks like a couple of cars are missing,, Koienesegg, Noble, Ultima, but its a pretty impressive statement for the corvette to be up near cars costing 7-10 times its price.

Top 20 Best Power/weight ratio production cars.

At the price point GM is setting, no car can touch the Z06. Not even the Viper.
The engine looks very promising, with 7100rpm redline, Dry Sump, Hand built 500HP.....putting it on a relatively light body.....I think I might just buy this over a Porsche 911 (well every model up to but not including the GT2 and GT3)

ya, I knew I didn't know how to spell it so I just went for the Top Gear thing and threw a bunch of letters together

I also saw Nurburgring times that were expected in the 7:4x range. Not sure what the official number is though. It was confirmed that the last ZO6, 2004 year could do the lap in the 7:54 range by GM drivers. Which i believe is just faster than a GT3 factory time of 7:56. Anyone know a good ring laptime chart?

rumor is it will be around 75k

It isn't great at all. Look at the SVT Cobra, have the cost and faster, better handling, and tunable on a budget. Anything for the Z06 is way over priced and the Vette just isn't that great of a car.

totally add koenigsegg CC8S and CCR to that list. (655bhp and 806 bhp)

while you're at it, the new Saleen S7 Twin Turbo might be a nice addition too! (750bhp planned)

nice list though - i like those types of comparisons.

and yes, the C6 Z06 is good bang for the buck, albeit it might be lacking in other areas.

DUNKiNUTS, can u explain what u based on to say the Z06 is overpriced? Is there any sports car that is cheaper and provide a better performance straight out of the factory?

The 03+ corbra with 390hp did represent a good bang for your buck. It had:

$33,000
390hp, 390 torque, 3665lbs, P/W= 9.4

It comes in just a bit behind the new pontiac GTO in terms of bang for the buck(acceleration), P/W ratio on the GTO is a hair better.

$33,000
400hp, 400 torque, 3725lbs, P/W= 9.3

In no way can the Mustang Cobra compete in straight line acceleration or handling with a C5 coupe, ZO6, C6 coupe or ZO6. All 4 of the corvettes have better P/W ratios, which tell you that they are faster in a straighline. Plus they are all 400-500lbs lighter, have much better brakes, a much stiffer body structure and are generally much easier to drive fast than a Cobra. I've driven a C5 coupe and a C5 ZO6 on track, I've only driven the Cobra on the street.

My opinion, if you like the looks of the Cobra and only care about going fast in a straight line, then the mustang is very good and pretty easy to mod. If you care about going fast on a racetrack, or want a good handling car than any of the Corvettes would be the obvious choice.

Where is the McLaren F1 in that list? Or the F40? What about the Dauer 962 LM? :fist:

The cars are 05 or 06 production cars for sale in the US(which is probably the same as Canada?). Is the Enzo for sale in the US? Oh, and the 04 ZO6 is the only older car on the list.

any built-for-track car

If you want a fast tractor made from plastic, go ahead and buy the Z06. I'd take a C2 over it anytime. 8)
