No wonder why they have moved the US GP to June, it's all because they axed the Canadian GP.

The good thing is: Spa-Francorchamps is back on the F1-calendar. Our GP got cancelled a year or two ago as well, so I know how you feel.

It's all about tobacco-publicity, same as here. What happened here in Belgium was that the green parties were slashed in this year's election for not wanting to make an exception to allow F1 to make publicity for tobacco-products. Right after the election the new parliament decided to change the law and allowed the publicity on the track. Bernie thought that was cool and put Spa back on the calendar. All the drivers like it as well, so that helped. Everybody should be happy now because it's the greatest F1-track in the world. :P

All I can say is: learn from how we handled this shit.

That is not going to happen in Canada, it is probably gone forever, but it is one of the top 3 most profitable races for F1. So, I don't know why Bernie is cancelling it, the drivers should ban together and say that they won't race until Montreal is put back on the schedule, wishful thinking on my part. I have gone for the past 6 years, what am I supposed to do now, go to Indianapolis, I don't think so, it is such a dinky town, Montreal kicks its ass. In North America, only Miami and New York can compete with Montreal for hot women and hot nights, remember LA sucks, as nothing is open late. I guess, I will go to Monaco and Monza next year instead of Monaco and Montreal. Any other GP's I should go to, I am not going to Brazil as Sao Paulo is terrible. Perhaps I should go to the British GP and Goodwood Festival of Speed.

lesson learned is dont believe everything you read. With that said ill be really surprised if they still run in Canada with a tobacco ban. With tracks coming out in china and bahrain, they really arent in shortage of venues at the moment. The move right now is definitely to push races to other countries and continents where they arent as strict about tobacco advertising. I just wouldnt know where the sponsorship money would come from if not for these companies.

Im also glad that Spa will be back, i love that track and was sad that is didnt make it this year. With it back next year and new venues next season, it will hopefully prove to be another successful comeback in ratings for F1. All the rumours of new racing weekend formats sounds exciting and I for one will be glad to lose these 1 lap shootouts, they are boring to the spectators such as myself.

canada is good circuit..hope that won't be lost. but at least spa is back and i hope it stays that way forever

one lap qualifying maybe good for tv. i never know coz we only see it once a year. but it would be crap for spectators at the track.

spa will probably remain at least till 2006 which is when the tobacco legislation comes in. After that is anyones guess.

as far as im concerned..the one lap qualifying is to give all teams equal television time for their sponsors.

but no, lets get rid of it. lets say screw racing- we'll just print money, yeah

well i suppose smoking is a direct killer, while drinking when done in moderation doesnt hurt anyone. Also in F1, beer sponsoring isnt nearly as prominent as tobacco companies. They are dealing with the immediate "problem". For all we know, they may even ban alcohol ads in the future, but i doubt it.
