Need help Connecting 42" Plasma HDTV to PC...
 

I wish the Plasma (42" Sony FWD-42PV1) display was actually mine, but it´s the office´s so too bad.

I need to connect it to a PC so it can display real time info from an application...it has DVI-HDCP, RGB/Component and S-Video Inputs. I tried connecting it DVI Input to my PC´s GeForce 6800, but I was unable to get signal from the PC.

Anyone care to help me out with all this HDTV babble I cannot understand?

thanks dudes, I have the manual, and I have set up the display to various sizes and frequencies supported for DVI, but the thing only displays No Sync...like there's no input signal...somewhere around the net I've read that DVI signals from TVs and PCs are not compatible...anyone know about this?

According to some sites, the output of Video Cards is DVI-I which transmits analog and digital signals, and the input of most HDTVs is DVD-D which is Digital only...and they can't be connected...

What connector are you using?

A PC style D-Plug? Often certain connecitons are marked in the manual as not supporting the PC connection - but one of them will be.

You sure the video card is set to the correct specs? Because if your video card should see the Sony TV on the other end of the DVI to VGA converter cable.

I'm not using a DVI to VGA cable...I'm using the DVI cable that comes with the TV to plug it into my video card's DVI output. Is this wrong?

My video card is set to detect a TV, and set to 1280x960 at 60Hrz...which according to the manual is compatible with DVI.

try a reboot :?

You need to use Input 2, tte D-sub 15 pin VGA connection on the TV - the DVI conneciotn, as you have learned, won't support the PC signal.

You need a DVI --> VGA cable.

Says so in the manual... ;)

Oh.. and don't forget to also set the TV to use source as Input 2 ;)
