My NEC 3500 DVD-RW DL went Region Crazy!
 

Ok so I got a Nec 3500-AG Dual Layer DVD-RW, and I have never had region problems with it.

A few days ago, I started having problems with it, it would't read DVDs, so I uninstalled it from the device manager, and rebooted. After the reboot Windows detected it and installed it, the DVD reading problem was gone. But now it asks me to change the region of my DVD player to whatever region the DVD is from, as you probably know, you can only do this 5 times and then it'll lock.

So, I never had this problem with this DVD drive, it used to be region free, and now it's not...is there any way to make it region free again?

Well, drives shouldn't be Region-Free from the factory anyway, so someone has updated the Firmware. I would suggest reflshing the Fireware to the latest Region-Free version and going from there.

www.rpc1.org , try to install a new firmware for it !
