Cleaning a 1:18
 

Hey, I have a black 2001 Nissan Skyline GT-R Vspec II die cast 1:18 scale model. It has collected alot of dust and dirt all around, and I was wondering if there is a proper way to clean it to bring it back to it's show car status. I just know using water with some bounty isn't the best thing because it can get into places and rust, mess up plastic, etc. Is there any specific thing you guys use to clean off your collectables? Thanks.

I had this problem with a couple of models before I got a display for them, and used an air compressor to blow all the dust off/out of the model. Then I just wiped it down with a clean (and dry) cloth :wink:

if you don't have an aircompressor, you should be ale to get some keyboard cleaner. You know the stuff that comes in aerosol type cans. that ought to do the trick. Q-tips work well for quick wipe downs in the cracks too.

IMO dingo's way is the best ...

I agree but I sometimes I have problems with removing the stickers that hold the bonnet or the doors(in maisto 1/18 i think). There's a special spray for these that makes the glue melt.
(I think you can also use it to make the plastic parts of your car shine :? )

Anyways, to answer the above question.....one word, "Swifter", takes off ALL the dust without damaging your model, I use it all the time..it's absolutely amazing! btw, nice model, I have the same one in the same colour. :P

The "Swifter" is that duster thing with the feathers attatched to a stick? :?
If it is, I can imagine it doing the job partly aside from it just kicking the dust all over the place, but I was looking for something to make the car shine a bit also.
