Speed GT Cadillac CTS-V's penalized

The SCCA has announced some changes to the cars in Speed GT to help even up the field. However post of these changes penalize the CTS-V, since the SCCA claimed that since it is a new car, they were unprepared for the speed of the CTS-V.

The changes they've dictated are:
- 200lbs of weight added
- Revlimit lowered from 7900rpms to 7000rpms
- Air restrictor changed from 80.5mm to 63.6mm
- Mandatory use of a Tremac gearbox
- No more development on air intakes

The only other cars affected by these rule changes is the BMW M3, which is now allowed to stroke their engine from 3.2L to 3.4L.

Heh, not surprising after they killed every other car in the series! lol

Thats not very cool. Im all for bumper to bumper racing, but It is not fair to get penalized for your own success.

Anyway I didnt like those Caddies much  something about them that irritated me.

Well, for me, it would be boring if they won race after race. One reason I find Speed GT so appealing is the level playing field. It makes the racing a lot more exciting knowing that everyone has a fair chance at winning.

It's sad for the team of the Cadillac CTS-V.

Honestly I like the team Audi and Cadillac. Here why.

mmmmm. give me that Audi and the chick and I would be a very happy man indeed!

Im pissed at Speedvision, well my cable company anyway. For some reason Speed never works properly and is at the moment not working at all.

well a level playing failed is what the series is all about... look at the touring car class.. the mazda looks like a MP3 but it has a ton of work done to the engine..

Its not surprising that the Caddy was hit... technically they are the only real factory team there... Audi comes a close second with championship racing running it..lefts see what happens if BMW or Porche really start to put more effort into the series...

AS much as I didn't like seeing the car on TV seeing it at the GM plant in detroit and being able to see it up close and personal...poke all through the car and getting to talk about it with the head engineer, I have a great liking of the car!!
Sucks that they are penalized now

I think it is only fair to level the playing field. All the other cars have to go by certain rules. Caddy sould be no exception.

biff19_a 07-01-2004 12:36 AM

not surpirsing they took the first victory easily...
i agree they are the only real factory team and that kind of goes agains the speed cup.. different cars different winners.. exciting racing thats what i like

I think the Caddy team's biggest mistake wasn't winning sebring but instead was letting the second place car come from dead last to second place. This showed a deffinate advantage over the rest of the field. It also doesn't help that the caddy program is very closely related to the C5-R program either

I also don't like the Big factory teams in GT. Those cars, drivers and budgets are what the ALMS is for. The TC series is still pretty good to it's roots, but the GT series has gotten a little out of control with 500+HP cars being the dominate cars. There is a reason these are one hour races. These series are for talented amatuers and smaller budgeted teams.
