Autosfeer 4x4 test day
The cars we drove, in order from good to bad
Range Rover Sport Supercharged: superb sound, great handling for such a heavy car, rapid engine response. Mercedes ML350: very good handling, good engine, could use a bit more torque, superb interior. BMW 330xd: lots of torque, excellent chassis, needs more steering feedback. Lexus RX400: luxery, fantastic interior, lots of power. Range Rover 2.7biturbo diesel: needs more power, rolls a lot but is the most refined car I’ve ever been in. Feels like nothing else (floats)! Land Rover Discovery 2.7biturbo diesel: rolls too much in corners, feels heavy. Comfortable ride. Hummer H3: Absobloodyfuckinglutely horrible! I think the powerband (or how do you call it in english) was broken. We couldn’t rev past 3000rpm. It must have taken at least 20 sec to go from 0-100km/h. The one I would advise: Mercedes ML320CDi (more torque then the 350). Two video's I've uploaded of when we were driving the Range Rover Sport Supercharged. I warn you, the quality sucks, there's no sound. But they're pretty small so you're not wasting bandwidth. http://users.telenet.be/p997s/Range%...rcharged-1.avi http://users.telenet.be/p997s/Range%...rcharged-2.avi Range Rover Sport Supercharged http://img60.imageshack.us/img60/6421/pic00121lm.th.jpg http://img60.imageshack.us/img60/3818/pic00552kp.th.jpg http://img74.imageshack.us/img74/9381/pic00766sa.th.jpg http://img60.imageshack.us/img60/3968/pic00845et.th.jpg http://img60.imageshack.us/img60/8303/pic00110hl.th.jpg Land Rover Discovery 2.7 biturbo diesel http://img86.imageshack.us/img86/5641/pic09986pj.th.jpg http://img86.imageshack.us/img86/2203/pic00706or.th.jpg http://img106.imageshack.us/img106/2...c9914fv.th.jpg Hummer H3 http://img133.imageshack.us/img133/5...00194ap.th.jpg http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/9453/pic00502ml.th.jpg Lexus RX400 hybrid http://img479.imageshack.us/img479/8...00077ls.th.jpg http://img60.imageshack.us/img60/866/pic00544ws.th.jpg BMW 330xd break – 325xi http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/2...00537nj.th.jpg http://img74.imageshack.us/img74/4328/pic00108fx.th.jpg Mercedes ML350 http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/8926/pic09991te.th.jpg http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/7...00429pw.th.jpg Audi Q7 http://img239.imageshack.us/img239/3...00187yt.th.jpg http://img133.imageshack.us/img133/7...00376jn.th.jpg Audi A4 Cabrio 3.0 TDi http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/1...00024pq.th.jpg http://img219.imageshack.us/img219/7...00397wr.th.jpg The rest of the group http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/2...00407iz.th.jpg http://img211.imageshack.us/img211/9...09949tq.th.jpg http://img379.imageshack.us/img379/3...09952ts.th.jpg http://img48.imageshack.us/img48/9678/pic00311ov.th.jpg http://img48.imageshack.us/img48/1108/pic00364lf.th.jpg http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/5829/pic9927bj.th.jpg http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/9041/pic09969um.th.jpg http://img58.imageshack.us/img58/3163/pic00695dz.th.jpg http://img113.imageshack.us/img113/9...00239tr.th.jpg http://img113.imageshack.us/img113/7...00281al.th.jpg http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/394/pic09972cp.th.jpg The list of the cars that were present and could drive alone: Yamaha Quads BMW 330xd BMW 530xd BMW 325ix BMW X3 2.0 Honda CR-V 2.2 i-CDTi Hummer H3 Hyundai Tucson CRDi Hyundai Santa Fe 2.2 CRDi Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.0 CRD x2 Kia Sportage CRDi Kia Sorento CRDi Land Rover Discovery 2.7biturbo diesel Range Rover Sport Supercharged Range Rover 2.7biturbo diesel Lexus RX400H x2 Mercedes ML350 Nissan Murano Suzuki Grand Vitara 1.9 DdiS Suzuki Jimmy Cabrio 1.5 Ddis Toyota RAV4 2.2 D4-D Toyota Hilux Volvo XC90 D5 Volvo XC70 D5 The cars we could drive but with one of the car importers next to you: Audi Q7 3.0 Tdi & 4.2Fsi VW Touareg 2.5Tdi & 5.0 Tdi Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7 The cars we couldn't drive, but were taken onto an offroad course: Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7 Nissan X-Trail Nissan Pathfinder Nissan Navara Land Rover Discovery G4 |
Who organised such event with many cars from many different manufacturers? That's for sure interesting. Was is set in a nice area allowing some offroad too?
YOu are lukcy you got the Supercharged! I was so depressed when some days ago I could test a RR Sport and got the fucking useless 2.7 diesel :D |
That's an impressive list of cars you could choose out. And you've taken some good choices for the test drives. Maybe next time you should also try out one of the quads, that's pure fun :D

berline-breaks day coupé-cabrio day We had to stay on a 15km road that was described in a road map. As allways, they had selected a wonderfull scenery. The roads were really twisty but not too crowded and with lots of long corners. The roads were full of holes but I suspect they chose those on purpose. An SUV is perfect for those roads! Sadly there was no offroad part involved. You could go offroad but then someone else was at the wheel. And me and my dad prefer to drive ourselves. Quote:
I would like to have driven a quad. I've never done that before. But if I had done that I would have had to skip on at least two cars since you had to wait quite a bit for the quads. They allways waited for all the quads to be occupied before they left in a group. The thing I'm really looking forward to is the next coupé-cabrio day next june. The Maserati PR guy told us he'll be present. I really hope so, I would love to get my hands on a Grandsport. Oh and one more detail. They wrote down the check-in time and check-out time and the person who was driving. The average time was about 25min, me and my dad allways managed something like 20min :D |
