Ultra Blue Renaultsport Megane 175 DCi
So after 8 years of owning a 1.2 Renault Clio I decided it was time to move on. I looked around for weeks for a replacement, I started looking at sensible diesels and then looked at various petrol cars but I really wanted something quick that wasn't going to be daft on fuel costs, insurance, tax etc.
Step up the RS Megane, I had no idea they did an RS diesel! Any way enough chat, pics: http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5484/9...15ac0686_b.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7454/9...cea048a8_b.jpg Plans so far: Get some standard wheels and decent tyres Cooksport springs Remap and dpf delete Clio 197 side skirts Colour code that spoiler that's on or replace with a Megane R26.R spoiler |
First addition seeing as it has no badges, I'll get if fitted over the weekend.

So a couple of updates, new wheels have been fitted and a new style RS badge on the rear.

Looking good! What are your other ideas to add to the car?

New shiny wheel bolts:

Careful, if those are "lightweight lugs" (e.g. aluminum/magnesium), they can be more prone to shearing off under stress. A friend of mine just destroyed his right-front wheel, hub, rotor, and fender because 4 of his "lightweight lugs" snapped while he was autocrossing.
|
Looks like a real pocket rocket you have there.
|
Cheers fella's and I will keep the bolts (lugs ;-)) in mind. I know a few people that have used them before me and the company they come from seem to be well recommended.
|
very nice Megane!!! is that how the stock exhaust exit is?? out of the rear valence?
|
Cheers :) Yeah that's the standard exhaust / bumper (fender). The non RS models have a single exit exhaust hidden underneath.
|
Looks great ... especially the attention to detail.
|
Thanks :) it's my pride and joy at the minute.
|
So what are you plans for other mods?

Ultra Blue Renaultsport Megane 175 DCi
Plans so far are:
1. Lower it around 30mm on Cooksport springs 2. Colour code the black spoiler 3. Remove the dpf (diesel particulate filter) 4. Stage 1 Remap 5. Fit Renault Clio 197 side skirts Side skirts look like this when fitted: http://i860.photobucket.com/albums/a...g?t=1270395046 http://i860.photobucket.com/albums/a...g?t=1270395381 Possibly a few other bits and pieces, such as removing the EGR valve. I also have my eye on a Pioneer AVH-X3500DAB stereo that will look the part interior wise, DAB, Bluetooth, Sat Nav etc. |
Nice looking Megane! Didn't know they made an RS diesel version. These were probably limited edition, right?
Keep up the good work! |
Neither have I, it's a rare beast. I've checked out 3 firms over here that do chiptuning, and only 1 had this model in their list, that's how rare it is! Have you chipped it yet, and checked how much power/torque the other components (clutch, diff, gearbox) can handle? It could prove to be too costly in the long run.
|
Cheers fellas. They are rare yes, only around 300 in the UK were bought and still around that same number today. From what i've read the clutch is the weak point but if you stay sub 250 brake you're all good. It's not been remapped yet, funds have been channeled into the Le Mans 24 Hours drinking fund ; )

Here's has she stands today, not much has changed but I bought her a private plate

Doubt you feel the need for more power often ;-) it is a powerful car as it is.
I haven't done my research, for obvious reasons (I didn't even know the car exists 'till yesterday), so I'll believe yours. I just don't personally believe in Renault clutches too much. But man, I do believe in RS! |
