last night we had a big storm here. 3 bolts hit not much more than 500ft from my apartment. scared the shit out of me the first time because i wasn't expecting it.

how do people get pics of lightning like that? i try it but it just comes out as a big blue splotch :?

well i say a show on stormchasers and photographers, and they follow the clouds and set up, then they pic a spot and wait, they have the button in there hand and when lighting comes the jump and push the button. But the key i think is that they take more then one at a time.

usually people set up video cameras and then just do a screen shot,
there's this crazy picture in my physics book of a girls hair standing up, the caption sais that she was standing up on this rock and her hair was standing up, they left thinking it was just some freak of nature, lightning struck that point 3 or 4 minutes later... that would be a freaky situation

a very nice find :). I hope it isn't photoshoped or something.

cho_888 12-09-2004 06:36 PM

it would be a one in a million chance to catch that photo. the lightening moves so quickly!

DUNKiNUTS 12-09-2004 08:15 PM

well the most interesting fact is lighting goes up not down

saadie 12-10-2004 04:07 AM

IMO there are pro camers capable of taking multiple pics within 500th of a sec .....
there are two ways to sna .. either they di it by them selves .. the other is by a photo cell ...

saadie 12-10-2004 04:11 AM

oh and i can explain this pic ......
ther are two simmilar towers ..... as you can see in the pic ...
lightning very easitly strikes the highest thing tht's grounded ....
so thats y the lightning struck tht place ^^ ....

oh and how did they take the pic ... they were waiting ... :P

1100th post

DUNKiNUTS 12-10-2004 11:09 AM
