Yeah and spent a little money. That maytag is a nice AC, comes with remote control and everything! :P That has to make the inside of his truck FREEZING cold!! lol

ZfrkS62 05-28-2005 09:19 PM

i'm just wondering how well it will actually work with no airflow in the bed of his truck :P at 60mph, there is a nice little vortex back there, so i'm wondering if there will be enough air going across the condensor to even make the AC unit effective

Pretty hilarious, you gotta give him credit though :D

sads 05-28-2005 10:22 PM

I just wonder how long the battery lasts with that sucking it away

ZfrkS62 05-28-2005 10:26 PM

the alternator is what is taking the beating. i just hope he can remember to shut the damn thing off everytime he exits the truck though.

um what does it matter if there is ariflow outside the unit?

Aleighy 05-29-2005 12:54 AM

THAT'S how you fix an inconvenient problem where I come from

nthfinity 05-29-2005 03:00 AM

as for airflow, the low pressure there is still very much compared to even a thousand ft. (100mb) higher, so that wouldn't be a problem.

its pretty cool he went and made it work, is it cheaper then fixing the trucks AC??

Because of the way an AC unit works. The whole thing is based off of heat transfer which requires airflow. if there is no air going over the condensor, then the change of state cannot take place in the freon and it won't be as effective.

Well I would say that is at least a $350 AC unit so probably not! That AC is 5200 BTU and is meant to cool a decent sized 1 bedroom apartment not a tiny truck cab LOL Thats serious overkill!!
