Meh, doesn't quite do it for me. :? I prefer the Coupe.
The new rims are "bleh" and the coupe configuration goes better with the angular design of the car, me thinks. Thanks for the pics, guys! |

Gallardo with the detachable soft top "was lit" during the tests. Novelty they will present September in Frankfurt. The start of production is outlined for the beginning of 2006 soft roof on Gallardo Spider it is necessary to add and to spread by hand. Automobile will obtain the more powerful 522- strong engine V10 and all-wheel-drive transmission.

These shots reveal the smallest open-top Lamborghini, the Gallardo Spider, undergoing final testing ahead of its official launch at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2005. Orders will be taken for the model from early next year, but insiders suggest that dozens have already been reserved by American dealers for their customers.
Sadly, there's no room in the Spider's engine bay to squeeze a glass folding roof, so it makes do with a more compact fabric top. No more Lamborghini soft-tops with fiddly manual roofs though; the Spider's is a button-pressing, electro-hydraulic affair. The Gallardo coupe's 5.0-litre V10 has been uprated from 493bhp to 522bhp for the cabriolet, and will come with either a six-speed manual or automatic gearbox, with Lamborghini's 'e-gear' semi-automatic shifter an option. Naturally, the Spider's aluminium spaceframe has been beefed up over the coupe so that handling isn't compromised by the lack of a fixed roof. A drive-by-wire throttle should make the transfer from coupe to drop-top Gallardo, and all-wheel drive will be standard. More good news for speed freaks is that the more powerful engine is to feature in a special edition Gallardo coupe called the Piton, which could match the more senior Mucielago supercoupe's performance. |
