Well I haven't seen this on here yet so I figured I would put it on the table...

As was told to us Acura is going to be in Japan soon and it will be hopefully global by 2010 but the real news is that according to some there is a very high potential for the Type-R name plate to make its return to the States...

TSX Type-R anyone? :twisted: This car needs a bit more power...

^ I think they already have the TSX/Accord in Japan with a more potent VTEC motor than the 190hp 2.4

I am surprised that Acura (or Infiniti) haven't entered Europe already, especially with the relative success of Lexus over there. :?

Having said that, Honda is seen as a premium(ish) brand in the UK already...

yes they have the TSX in both europe and asia as the Accord as stated in the article and BTW our TSX has 205 hp not 190 hp. :wink:

There are rumors of a 250 hp V6 for the TSX in a type-S version sometime in the VERY close future.

Anyway - Taking the 2.0l i-VTEC engines:

Drive the (200hp claimed) RSX-S and the (UK 197hp) Civic Type R - no way is the type R 3hp less than the RSX. Bullshit. The CTR feels about 20hp more than the RSX-S and stock RSX-S dyno results do not add up to 200hp at the crank...as for RSX-S doing 0-60 in less than 7secs, perhaps, but your clutch aint gonna last!

This was a real shame for me, I came here ready to buy a CTR, found out they dont sell them in the US but that you do get the DC5 - great, I thought. Until I drove the DC5. It feels strangled where the CTR feels able to breathe.

Again, same engine. Wierd.

It isn't necessarily the exact same engine there are some slight differences the 06 TSX is noticeably quicker than the previous years (trust me I put them through the paces) Yes the RSX-S isn't a very fast car at all seeing as I kept up with one in a TSX and spanked one in the TL. and yes the Cluthes on the RSX is horrible I hate the feel from it, I prefer the TL clutch more.

Id worry if it will actually sell over there. Actually deep down I wonder if they sell very well here. Other then the one suv they have I rarely ever see the newer ones on the road (As opposed to the integra I use to see all the time).

Oh well, I didnt think toyota could pull it off selling lexus cars since they are generally so bland, but they did. So what do I know?

actually this was a pretty good year for sales it was our best year ever and ours was one of the first ever Acura dealerships opened. Yes most of the sales are the MDX but the TL sells like crazy aswell (I would say average 2 a day) there are days where we sell 7-10 cars which isn't bad for a Luxury dealership but then again we are in an extremely wealthy area which helps alot.

Fair comment. My friend has a TSX and it's quick enough. Lovely car IMO.

The 05 on RSX was supposed to be 10hp more than the previous years as well. Nicer wheels/lights too. (I've only driven 02 and 03s)

yes it is a little quicker but not by much and yes I think the lights and wheels are much nicer they also tuned the exhaust to have a nicer sound to it.

To be honest, Honda are seen as premium car brand in most car market in the world save the US. Their prices are usually 10% or more than most of their competitors model and usually sell in volumes. IMO they dont actually need Acura.

They don't - as an example Honda was/is sold alongside Mercedes Benz's in South Africa because the quality and service was/is just that good.

Yeah, I can't wait for the Type-Rs to return :) . I always fancied the last Integra Type R in Championship White!

Reliability in a Honda just really can't be beat. My friend just bought a Accord Coupe V6 EX model and I was seriously impressed with the level of quality in the plastic and leather. But especially the plastic they use, it feels very high quality which is more than what I could say for some of the German brands. Now, how well will it hold up after 8 years and 100,000 miles is another story. But definitely great effort!!!

Out of the three cars I have owned, two have been from Honda. My first car was a 1991 Honda Accord, which was a fine first car. It got me from point A to point B without any problems. I then got a 1991 Mercedes-Benz 300SE a few months later which was a pretty nice ride, but it just had too many problems(bad brakes, oil burning, bad starts, sticky transmission, etc) and ate gas as if there was no tomorrow(I would usually get around 12mpg, and it cost close to $100 to fill up every week). Then I moved onto the TSX, because I wanted an extremely reliable car with luxery, and that is what Acura is known for.

I have a friend with a 1988-ish Accord with 350,000+ miles, and it still runs pretty smoothly. My point being, I completely agree with all you guys that their quality is just great and unbeatable for the price. :mrgreen:
