Anyone with radar/laser detector experience?

I'm thinking of purchasing a Valentine One, laser and radar detector. The fines are increasing and increasing, and I'd like something I can trust. This valentine model has gotten top score in just about anything over the years, but has anyone used it on a daily basis?

From what I have heard, the V1 is one of the best, if not the best detector you can get for $400. My friend uses it in his IS300, and it's saved his butt a few times. It's deffinitly a purchase I'm looking into as well. I want to keep my record free of tickets.

I don't think you can go wrong with it.

They're currently running av $900+ in Norway, but I think I can get away with $500 when ordering direct from valentine+s&h and+tax...ordering as we speak.

Wow!!! That is pretty expensive! Tell me how the ordering goes.

valentine didn't ship to norway, but I got one pretty cheap of e-bay. $500 with ALL the extras they offer, including hidden mounting kit. jeeeeey.

Glad to hear that you found one on eBay. Enjoy it! Maybe you can give a little write up on it after a while?

here you go, tests don't lie but i have a whistler and it works great and it was 40 USD.

but now you have to worry about POP radar. its faster then the older guns yet not many cops have it b/c they can afford to upgrade everyone.

You should be able to get a Valentine 1 straight from their website for bout $400+shipping.

It's great, a friend of mine gave me his old one while he upgraded to the newer one. Not that much of a difference except for the smaller size and better laser protection.

The one that I've been using is great, definitely the best detector around.

^good to hear some positive experiences.

I bought a new Escort Solo Cordless radar detector. I wanted a cordless one so that I dont have wires running in my car. It worked fine on a 1500 mile trip this weekend. There were cops pulling over other cars to the left and right of me. Luckily the Ferrari seemed to catch a break.

A radar detector helps but it is not infallible - you need to exercise due caution on the road - never speed over the crest of a hill, etc. Also, I think the cops are getting smarter - a Corolla just behind me got pulled over - poor fellow just about merged into the highway and zoomed up to have a look at my car - that's when my detector chirped and the cop who turned up out of nowhere caught him with instant on detection. My radar gave me barely half second warning - not enough time to slow down if I was doing insane speeds. Fortunately that time I was just cruising at 6 mph over speed limit :)

I used a V1 before - that was great too. Good buy

Wish I could get myself one of those. All the police cars in Holland (marked and unmarked) now have been fitted with a anti laser detector device, so a detector to detect a laser detector, can you believe that

When they pull you over and they know you have one youŽll get fined 250 Euros and you have to handover all the laser detector stuff on sight otherwise they will take you car and sent it for technical research

So watch out Skaala whenever going to Holland :!:

no anti radar/laser detectors here, but you do get fines at 950+ euros for speeding (35km/h over on 4 lane highway (speed limit is 100km/h)),
so I'll take my chanses in Norway at least=) the valentine is also designed pć be hidden :P

Yeah I understand, I was just warning you LOL

Ive seen people on the television (program where a camera crew travels with an unmarked policecar) that were pulled over and also had it hidden somewhere, the police then say, we detected one in your verhicle, you either get it out or we confiscate your car
