Lookalikes: Steve Pound and David Suchet

Last weekend, I met the British Labour MP Steve Pound, who has mean tattoos on his forearms, wears perfectly tailored suits from "Sam's Tailors", makes ridiculous jokes, gazes lecherously at young women and name-drops like no other. He also looks like the actor David Suchet.

This is a thread with a difference 8-)
Should put it in the what your saw today section

He sounded like a decent guy till i read the "gazing lecherously" part.. But most guys do.
What was the occasion? Where were you?

I know Poirot. The other guy????

You pulled that old photo off the guy's website. Let's just say it's been "optimized". Photoshop tan and chopped off bald head for starters.

Here's a more candid photo. Still think he's Poirot's stand-in?

Nothing wrong with gazing lecherously at young girls. He's a British MP - 70% chance he'd be gazing lecherously at young men!

I was teaching debating to high school kids at a workshop in Hong Kong over the past week or so and he was a guest on behalf of the British Council, alongside Nigel Evans. I'll concede that 'Poundy' doesn't look that much like David Suchet, he's a larger man with fairer skin and hair; I really only posted these two pictures because of the eery similarities. However, when I met him, I almost immediately thought: "He looks like the guy off Poirot!".

The lecherous gazing is merely one part of Poundy that doesn't accord with his Catholic family man image. He also seemed to enjoy the conversational company of numerous nubile young female participants of the workshop. I won't say anything further, because I genuinely think that despite his flaws in personality, he is a good MP.

I bet thats what many a young German thought during the 1930's...... about Hitler.

Character amd morals are rather more important than "political acumen".

^Well, he displays genuine care for his constituents and his country. That's why he's been voted in for the past few elections. The specific reason why I won't divulge further details is that I was told of them by other people, so they're unsubstantiated. Slack morals won't defeat politicians. Bill Clinton survived.

For a maximum of 8 years.

The beauty of term limits.

Other countries should try them once in a while.

Well you ended up getting a choice between Al Gore and George Bush - not exactly the shining lights of American society!

RC45 07-28-2008 12:56 AM

This exchange is getting dangerously close to political tit-for-tat.

I am outa here, bye.

Fair enough, I will withdraw. Back to the lookalikes!
