Stunt Driving Techniques
I'm pretty sure everybody here has seen the BMW vids where they teach how to do the stunts - problem is, they're similar to those magician expose's - they just sort of skim over how its done. Anybody here know of any site that hosts vids where they actually SHOW how its done a a la Tony Hawk skateboard training vids? :) A thorough discussion/explanation would do as well.

What kinda stunts do you want to know? Ask away. I think i have a pretty good idea how to do most.
|
you can dl those BMW films, there is a 'making of' out there somewhere
|
Tiff Needell has also done a kind of tutorial video. On a few types of extreme maneuver. Its pretty boring though! Must be available somewhere to download
|
What the file name for Tiff's vid? I have the BMW one... that's the one I was talking about.
Tricks I'd like to learn: 180 (like in the BMW short film with the old 7) 360 spin (you keep going after...Clarkson does this with in the RX-8 video review, also Tiff in the M5 review) continuous donut I can powerslide/drift a bit...any tips on how to hold it longer though? |
Hehe, clarskon does it because he can't drive for shit and looses control!
180 starting in reverse i take it (otherwise its jus a handbrake turn!) Reverse up to a gud speed, yank on some steering lock, clutch in, apply foot brake to lock front wheels, change to 1st, release clutch and u should be traveling in the right direction! dounuts r much easier, start of stationary or goin slowly, (you need enough power and a limited slip differential) put on lots of lock and floor it! If grannies can do it on top gear you can (i hope) To practice drifting find an empty car park or industrial estate or ideally a flat field or gravel area (cheaper on tyres!) . Once car is turned into corner break traction either by flooring it (if enough power) or jab of handbrake then learn to balance on throttle and steering (always steer the way you want to go) If on tarmac you could try steering away from corner 1st to allow weight transfer to help start drift. Just practice really! lots of drift info sites about Hope that helps! |
The video is named "Tiff Needell - Burning rubber" and it teaches you to do 360 spin, handbrake turn 180 and 90 degrees, also, donuts, powersliding, drifting etc...
