Actually, grand am does/did come with manual on the base 2.4 (or 2.2 ecotec?). I've seen couple of '01 aleros with manual but I was busy trying to get some warranty work done so didn't bother getting a test drive.

BTW, I drive an Alero GLS with 3.4. Get 5 less hp but gotta love the torque

Well, if that means that there is a transaxle that will fit the V6, then this little lady may be in luck poor girl needs to learn how to drive a stick though too. from what i gather all the cars she's tried to learn on weren't the forgiving type which can be quite discouraging for a beginner
