New heroes v the icons, as the evo team pitch latest supercar offerings against respected performance cars of the past. Also this month, supersaloon group test, tests on the Brabus EV12 and TVR Tuscan convertible, 10 Drivens and all the usual regulars. On sale now.

014 Planet Evo
The Frankfurt show always throws up dozens of new models and enough rumours to keep the 'industry experts' wittering amongst themselves for months - usually about 'the V8 911'. This year's undoubted star of the show was BMW's Z4 Concept Coupe, which is certain to make it to production. Imagine it with an M3 engine... We've got full details on the Coupe and the other show highlights, plus a drive in the 997 GT3 Cup racer, an early look at 2007's Mitsubishi Evo X, prices and spec for the Focus ST, a new PlayStation GT4 challenge, and a competition to win a chance to write for evo

052 Driven
Wiesmann GT, Audi RS4, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX Wagon, Hartge H1 V8 5.0, Skoda Octavia vRS, Mercedes-Benz B200, Mercedes-Benz S500, Renault Clio mk3, Mercedes-Benz CLK320 CDI, Fiat Grande Punto

073 Letters
SEAT's adverts are causing more of a furore than any of the editorial copy, again. Is that a good thing? We're not sure, but it's tough competing with the devil and, more recently, John McEnroe's bare legs - themselves the devil's work, according to one reader. Meanwhile, most of our subscribers are enjoying the new, cleaner cover treatment and one reader has a bit too much time on his hands and has created a new form of bingo...

082 New Heroes v The Icons
It's always tempting to look back on the days before speed cameras and £5-a-gallon fuel as some sort of golden age of motoring. Supercars were loud, fast and dangerous to know; traffic lighter and less intolerant; the police were sensible chaps who wouldn't let a silly speed limit get in the way of a driver making responsible, considered and swift 'progress'. Actually we're not sure if the stuff about lighter traffic and intelligent policing is true (you'll have to ask Harry), but we do know that a golden age of performance is happening right now, with every sort of car, from supermini to supercar, becoming ever faster and more powerful...

084 Porsche Cayman S v 993 Carrera
The question is whether pure performance is enough. Or, perhaps more pertinently, just what have we lost in terms of raw excitement to the relentless march of progress? John Barker begins to answer the question with the first drive of the new Porsche Cayman in the company of the last of the air-cooled 911s, the sublime 993 Carrera

098 Ferrari F430 v F40
Jethro Bovingdon takes up the tale with a back-to-back drive of Ferrari's original 200mph supercar, the F40, and its new 'baby', the F430. Incredibly, it's the new entry-level Ferrari that packs a bigger stable of horses, and has the electronic aids to help them kick harder for more of the time

106 Lotus Exige 240R v Esprit Turbo
Finally, Richard Meaden takes the original British supercar, the Esprit Turbo, to meets its offspring, the tiny but freakishly powerful 240R. The contrast is stark, but perhaps not as frightening as the way technology in our everyday lives has changed in 25 years. Henry Catchpole takes us
on a trip down memory lane, wearing a pair of Aviators and listening to a cassette tape, whatever that is...

116 Supersaloon group test
Don't fancy an M5? Are you stupid? Seriously though, there are plenty of other supersaloons out there that combine monumental pace and suitably imposing architecture. Richard Meaden pits the 500bhp Alpina B5 against the simply gorgeous Maserati Quattroporte and throws in the edgy Cadillac CTS-V for good measure

128 Brabus EV12
If the B5, Maser and Caddy are supersaloons, then this must be an ultrasaloon, or perhaps a superdupersaloon. Whatever, it's a 630bhp E-class that'll hit 217mph. Jethro Bovingdon seeks out an autobahn and keeps the throttle nailed...

136 TVR Tuscan Convertible
TVR returns to its roots, with a stunning-looking, gloriously noisy and ferociously fast convertible sports car. John Barker discovers that it's still a winning formula after all these years

142 M3 project car
It's finished! Which makes a nice change for one of our projects. It's pretty quick around Bedford Autodrome's West circuit, too

150 Long-term tests
Jethro Bovingdon bids a tearful farewell to his trusty (and strong) Evo VIII MR FQ-340, but a new Nissan 350Z GT4 and Audi TT Sport bring the fleet back up to strength. Harry's 550 hits the rolling road at WRC Technologies and the V12 proves its bite is bigger than its bark, while the Monaro finds its voice with the help of a new VXR exhaust system. And previously of good character, the Jag S-type R develops a serious attacks of the hiccups on its way to Disneyland Paris

164 The Knowledge
If you can think of something witty to say here (and don't that we haven't tried in the previous 84 issues) please e-mail [email protected]

194 Best Day of My Life
Mario Andretti cites the day he won the 1978 Formula 1 World Championship as the highlight of his career, though there would be a tragic twist to events at Monza...

Looks like better number than before, and there has been plenty of good mags before. I love EVO.

And to topic, my last number was also in mint condition, cant say the same about CAR, there was many pages gone wrong in printing, and stuck together.
