look at the grooves in the MCV pad compared to the stock pad. They are really unneccasary due to the fact that they were used to vent out the gassing that occured in older pads with the non-metallic compound used back in the 80's when asbestos was being phased out of brake pads. Same reason for the cross drilling of the rotors. it's all very out dated and cosmetic.
