indeed the mag is prolly biased, but I don't see how your opinion is any less biased...u claimed its better, but where is the tangible proof...everyone has an opinion y should yours have anymore weight than the next person...

here's a mag that ran a series of tests, and shows how each one scored not based on opinion but on 'scientific evidence', maybe they were biased tests etc etc...but its more credible than 1 person's opinion...
Do what ever the hell you want.

I am however telling you that when we have been out driving in the wild, that the Escort has ALWAYS picked up signals ahead the V1's - and that the advantage of the "arrows" is nil when compared to the display showing a complete line for ach bogey detected AND frequency incationf of each AND a tone differnece.

So again - do what ever the fuck you want - the topic opener ASKED for opinions.

And I am guessing the thread starter IS interested the opinions of people who have owned and used BOTH - even if you are not.

Again - the thread starter ASKED for opinions.

Although LASER is line of sight, so there are more than likely other indicators a LASER is being used.. the operator will be likely using the crest of a hill, bridge etc. and more than likely in a high traffic area that you shouldn't be speeding in anyway.

thats true...but, the radars are getting to expensive for the cops to use over here, and the lasers they say are more reliable. The traffic police are one of the governments largest money making practices. After all the traffic cops are the only employees in Norway that are allowed to have unlimited overtime, and when fines start at around $100 for speeding 5km's over the limit they're not only standing where speeding actually is dangerous, they're everywhere, and in camo in the bushes. They fined the drivers over 100 million USD last year. Most of them minor offences like 5-15km over the limit on highways.

I was once caught early in the morning 7:30 on the mountains in the atumn, miiiiiles away from sivilisation, and i did 95 on a 80km/h on an empty highway overtaking a lorry, and i had to pay $550. The cop even gave me shit about "the porsche wheels on my Audi 80" threatening me to have my car controlled by the DMV regarding the wheels and lowering. It's Not lowered. :wall:

The police here have also been known to stalking people in undercover cars for miles and miles, waiting for them to speed when overtaking a truck or a bus. We currently don't have good enough laws around this.

the V1 has been very good, not to be used as an insurance, but its's nice to check it before overtaking. We also have a pretty good volunteer SMS system which tells you about local speedtraps.

so be it...however that doesn't discredit the C/D article...although its quite old and new comparisons don't have such nice things to say about it...

so did he give u a ticket?

you can't speed here in Ontario anymore...huge signs on the highway now, 50+, car impounded, license suspended...+ its illegal to use a detector...

but V1 seems to be the preferred choice of most normal ppl
Unfortunately yes and 240$ (3 points), but like I said, I will negociate with the court for 127km/h ~175$ and 2 points. I already did this 3 times in the past, so it will be easy by the fact the cop didn't use his radar or laser gun.

I saw on the news your recent law about +50 speeding over the limit, this is really too extreme. Be careful mate on your Ontario provincial roads.

Had experience with both V1 and Escort 8500

Went as far as testing them side by side on the long highway journey. The response performance was pretty much identical.

Pros V1 - arrows

Pros Escort - doesn't go off anywhere near as much as the V1 in the city. In the V1 it really becomes to the point where it's so annoying you want to turn it off!

In my opinion the arrows in the V1 don't ought way the stellar performance of the Escort. Period.

Thanks for the help everyone, but it's just as I expected. A lot of people say the V1 is the best, but then someone that has experience with both detectors chimes in and makes me rethink my decision. Ahhhh decisions decisions. I'll let everyone know what I eventually choose.

I use a Cordless Escort which was supposed to be pretty good. Anyway to me the detector is secondary protection, you need to keep your eyes open for cops who sneak around you and switch on instant radar to catch you with your pants down.

The cordless escort (actually all cordless detectors) are only as good as the freshest batteries you use.

Anyway - where are the photos of the event..??

Default Hi

Top 5 reasons why you should consider Escort Detectors
1. Winner of more detector awards and tests than all competitors combined!
2. 65% of detection protection patents belong to Escort
3. More than 35 years of designing and engineering radar detectors.
4. Only detectors to feature AutoLearn technology – eliminates false alerts that plague all competitor detectors.
5. World’s only all-digital detectors with true Digital Signal Processing (DSP) to alert to real threats faster and more accurately.
