Default Second Harddrive

I'm planning to get a second hard disk into my PC.

Does anyone know if i need to get another power supply and extra fan ?

I'm running a PIII 933 with a standard power supply. I think 200 WATTS or less. Will the computer handle the extra power required for the extra drive.

Any help would be appreciated.

Dingo did you need extra cooling. How many fans did their system have inside it.

I run two harddrives as well, one 200GB and one 80GB, they run at 7200RPM, so it gets fairly hot, but they work great. you shouldnt have any problems what so ever. just as long as you do your rountine maintenance. no extra PS or fan. although I do have a fan just for my harddrives, but that just depends on the person.

200W is barely enough for 2 HDs. I had a celeron II 566 @ 892 running with a "350W" power supply that's actually 250W. It gets a bit unable once in a while but no problem after switching to a true 350W.

As for cooling, it really depends on case design and what you have in there. Use some hardware monitoring tool with S.M.A.R.T. support to check the HD's temperature. As long as you keep it below 45C (usually about 32-35C for mine), there shouldn't be any problem. HDs will run at temperature higher than that but they may fail prematurely.

depending on how many devices U've got U may need an extra plug for power suply.
most of towers got 3 plugs to plug in IDE devices - if U already got ie. HDD, CD-RW and an DVD player U might need an extra plug (i dont know the english word for it- it just shares one cable for two drives.
