[quote="dani_d_mas"]I saw those things at Barcelona some years ago... and I can tell you they were mightly fast!! there was a pic with one of them just behind Mansell's Williams... unfortunately, I lost it and never found it again

**edit**

Some info:

ABOUT SUPERKARTS

0 - 100 in 3 seconds, speeds of 260km/h and an adrenaline rush that will leave you breathless and shaking, this is 250 Superkart Racing. Unfortunately it is the most under published form of motorsport in South Africa,

250 Superkart racing has been taking place at our South African circuits for more than 30 years. With grown men squeezing their bodies into a kart that is no more than an inch off the surface of the track, climbing out with sore ribs and no wonder why. Speeds in excess of 200 km/h and braking as late as possible, g-forces that can only be described as out of this world. What could be better?

With a power to weight ration up there with the Formula 1's and the Indy cars, 250 Karting has been the starting point of a few of the current Formula 1 drivers racing careers. These pocket rockets have been clocked at 292km/h at the old A1 ring in Austria.

The current lap record of 01:02:48 at Zwartkops is held by Veron Pappas in a 250 Formula K Superkart.
great info on that... so then they run on 250cc motors? cuz that is pretty fast for a 250

I listened something about these beasts some time ago. I knew their incredible performances but I've never seen any video before and I must say that it's a complete madness to drive such a machine...
If I'm not wrong the 500cc world champions, Eddie Lawson and Wayne Rainey, compete with these super-karts. Sometimes Kevin Schwantz also takes part in these races...

I was just reading an article in what I think was Autoweek about these "super karts" it's supposed to be the step right before formula or somethin..

The guy interviewed in the article was lapping Leguna Seca faster than most race cars..

Power to Weight....... insane, i have driven go-karts near 40-50mph but nothing up at those speeds. its a rush. but costly, the cars cost 2-4K ($) for the low end.

Kart like this are actually racing in hillclimb courses in the north of Spain Cantabria, Asturias...). I´m not sure but for the present season will be banned for dangerous... I see it and they accel like wieving a fast foward video geting not many slower times than the CN cars considering that are driving by `weekend´ racing drivers...
