Default I almost died today.

Today I was driving down some little road I had never driven down before. The sun was setting, and I was driving right into it. The sun was little bit right of the road, right at eye level. So I am going along, since I can still see the road ok, at about 40 or 45mph - which is normal speed for the road. When all of a sudden I realize that there was a street in front of me. It was too late to stop, or I would have been in the middle of the road, so I just gun it and keep going. I came within a foot of getting t-boned on one side, and about 10 or so from the other side.
The sun was setting directly above a stop sign, completely blocking it from view. And I crossed a busy street, apparently, at 45mph during rush hour. It was absolutely awful.

I had sunglasses, and was using them. I guess I need more polarized lenses. But the sun was just, in that spot. The one spot where it was sure to do damage. No video camera, sorry. It was just me in the car.

the sun can be quite the harp of driving in morning or evening; years ago, i was a passenger, and right when the sun was terrible, but the road was still visable... we hit a deer... we need a longer hunting season in MI i think...

I had an accident one time that involved the sun. By the time the cops got
to the scene of my accident the sun had disappeared below the horizon so
they blamed it on my careless driving, that's the kind of luck I have.

That would have been one of the scariest moments of your live!.... I hope no-one was really hurt...and it was just damage to the cars involved.

you are one lucky fuckker

A girl friend of mine did the very same thing about 7 years ago - i was ffg her and she drove through a busy intersection at full throttle - not even lifting off for the 4 way crossing. Afterwards I asked her "WTF? why did u not stop at that crossing?"
She just shakes her head and says "what crossing ?" .. damn lady drivers and she was not blonde by the way...
