Help me with this setup :)
I am buying some pc parts next week for building my new pc , cuz my fucking celeron 950 is so fucking slow , so here are the parts i want to buy , please tell me if i am going into the correct direction or post alternatives to it , same price or cheaper cuz this parts are on my price range , thx a lot !!!
-CPU : Considered a Barton 2500+ . but after some researching i found out that a Mobile Barton 2400+ OC @ 2500mhz will give me the same performance as the Barton 3400+ , considering it runs at lower voltage , ThermalTake cooler and paste also
-Video Card : I dont play games , just one a decent one that runs windows very well and let me play games once in a month , Geforce MX4000 64mb
-Ram : For the double rate system i choosed Kingston 256mb x2 PC3200 400mhz
-Hard Disk : 80gb Seagate or Western Digital SATA150 8mb Buffer 7200rpm
-DVD Burner : Nec 2510 Dual Layer DVD+-R +-RW
-Mainboard : Abit NF7 R2 Sata with chipset Nforce2 and integrated Nvidia soundstorm Audio
Please post what you think , thx a lot !

Well, if you want calcualtaing power, then this setup is fine. AMD makes very good processors. And the mother board...I also have one with the Nvidia Nforce 2 chipset (MSI K7N2 - something) and it runs very fast and stable. Good choice with the HDD's too. It's imoportant to purchase one with an 8MB buffer as data is transfered much faster.

Also.. if your budget stretches to it, get 1GB of ram, you will notice the difference
*Note to self... you must upgrade from your current 256MB* ops:

Fleischmann : Calculating power ? I was told that with an AMD running at that speed my pc would be very very fast , and with a proper Video card i can run the most demanding games , am i right ?
Thamar : Yes youve heard about the 2400+ Mobile ? They are very good to overclock cuz they adjust the voltage to the task they are doing , so its very safe . I will see if i can get those coolings here .
I will get an nvidia , a 9200 will be enuf ? , For the HD i will get a 80 one , 40 dollars cheaper than the 120 one , and i have a 40 , so with 120 will be more than enuf , i can burn everything in dvd
thenumber1 : I will PM you with my paypal account to buy the 512 extra ram , thx a lot

Well generally the slower the graphic card, the more calculations have to be done by the procy'. But as far as I know, ya need a graphic card to use all them special effects such as Pixelshader, Vertex shader etc. I may be wrong, I'm not an expert ;(

hmm...nice set up. But a lot of ram wont do much. I have a 2400+ and a 2500+ isnt that much of a difference. 512MB Memory will be more than enough. Since you're not playing games that often and what not. Also...I just built my friends computer with a ATI 9200 128MB....pretty decent card and good for the money. I hate Nvidia.
As for the DVD R...no need to get a Pioneer like thenumber1 said. The nec will do just as good and it would be cheaper as well.
Western Digital should be your first choice for your harddrive. they are simply the best. Also..do you plan to run SATA or just normal IDE...hmm

I suggest you change your ram. Something with a higher frequency if you want to overclock it that high. You might not be able to get it that high though.
I would suggest a Pioneer DVD writer. It's slightly more expensive where I"m at and it's better.

Perhaps Ram depending what the baord can handle..im too lazy to find out. PC3200-4000 512 should be enough. Altough...if you would like to go 1 Gig...it does ge pricey.
