Default Japans Autosport Festival - Assen

Same deal as usual, so I'll skip my little story and let the pictures tell it:

Feel free to ask if anything is unclear! 8)

Well, I only went because Assen is just a 20 min drive. But I have to say that the drift-battles were quite entertaining!

Yes, used a polarizer and flash in every picture.

Must of saw some pretty amazing body kits

Very nice pictures.. The wide angle lens is great.

You used flash on every picture? Even the drift and panning shots?

Martijn,

First of all, congrats with your pics. You caught the action very well, lots of burning rubber Nice one !!!

I'm wondering, you say you used a polarizer + a flash. The combination is fine although I never used it myself. What effect does the combo of those 2 things have on the end result (your picture). You know what the weather was like back there, the amount of light and sky. Reason of asking this is; I think the combo of a pola and a fill-in flash enhances the contrast of the sky and the rest of the colours of the objects when they are not too far removed.

Are my thoughts towards that correct ? When you have something to add, please do

It might be a usefull combination for when I visit the ring next time, 'cause I'm going to the next VLN-race.

Cheers

Correct. I set the FEC on -2, also to help fill in the shadows a little. It also helps a little in freezing the action when panning (of course only up to a certain distance, say 20m).

Martijn,

Taking pictures with a flash sure does the trick to freeze the action, you can get very nice results on very very low shutterspeeds And I know you like that 8) Same with me, I dislike those high shutterspeeds although that every now and then you are obliged to use them.

Thanks for the reply mate !!!

Cheers

No problem, glad I can help out. It doesn't work wonders, but it can help improve already good pictures. 8)

Oh, btw, shot everything at 1/60s this time.

I sent one of the vendors a sarcastic email about the quality of their pics, and now they're using my pictures.
