"We are used to original projects from the Wally shipyard but the new 118 Wally Power is truly amazing. This is a fast 36m motoryacht, created using the most modern technology in design and construction. It looks like an ultra-modern FPB, i.e. a military Fast Patrol Boat, an impression created by its shape, which is very like that of the Stealths, often said to be "invisible". But the technical specifications of this yacht confirm the impression of power and exclusiveness created by its appearance. The total power installed is no less than 16,800 HP, generated by three gas turbines thanks to which the maximum speed reaches about 70 knots. But that's not all: to facilitate manoeuvring in narrow waters, the 1818 Wally power is equipped with two diesel engines which guarantee easy handling at low speed. There is nothing ordinary about this yacht: from its design to the building materials and its minimalist furnishings it seems to have been inspired by the modern battle aircrafts; ample proof lies in the bridge which looks like the cockpit of a fighter. There are numerous innovations also regarding deck equipment, from the gangplank that becomes a ladder when the need arises, or the garage for the tender which transforms into a gym. The interior, designed by the shipyard in conjunction with Lazzarini Pickering Arhictects is unique too and is characterised by a minimalist style which enhances ergonomics. The sleeping area can house six, including owner and guests, as well as six crew members.

"The bottom of the hull is built in solid fibreglass. Topsides from the waterline are hybrid fibreglass/carbon composite with balsa core. On deck this becomes a Nomex/full carbon composite. The deck superstructure is made of laminated glass with carbon frames. The interior bulkheads and cabin soles carry no structural loads: they are constructed entirely of thin wood and laminate veneer skins with cores."
The sleek lines of the 118 WallyPower are the result of an extensive R&D programme that included the tank testing at the SSPA facility in Goteborg, Sweden, and the wind tunnel testing in the Ferrari facility in Maranello, Italy
Smoke test in the Ferrari Wind Tunnel Facility, conducted to optimise the air inlets of the gas turbines, to verify any turbulence and back flow of the exhaust gas on deck and living areas, and to have a further confirmation of the geometry of the hull and superstructure.
