Since you post here I suppose you took the pic yourself. Did you just stumbled upon this terrible scene while driving around?

A friend of mine saw the wreck friday morning and told me to get my camera and go to the scene since it was a fairly impressive thing (is not everyday here that you see a car like that completely destroyed).
Someone said the driver was drunk

The car looks to have protected the people quite well.
It looks like the driver took a corner too fast, lost control and hit a tree/post. The car survived this impact well. However, the car then spun, and the rear of the car then collected another object. I suspect it was this impact that would have done the occupants any harm. The sudden sideways change of direction may have been the killer. Obviously I know nothing, and am probably completely wrong.
What gets on my nerves is the fact that the driver may have been drunk. Obviously that is only speculation, but if it is true, this crash is even sadder than it already is.
(p.s. that blue is really nice!)

You are right, the car understeered and then hit a post then a tree and then several other.
This is what happened to the tree

At high speed airbags are not engaged.. so maybe it was partially opened because the crash was really bad and that part popped open

The airbags only work when you have your seatbelt on, don't know if it has anything to do with speed though TT...

^^^^^you sure thamar, I think my Benz dealer told me that its a safety feature,
could you imagine not wearing your seatbelt and on impact getting thrown forward when suddenly your airbag throws you behind, I don't think your neck would survive...

Of course the passenger airbag did deploy, and as far as I know, airbags stay inflated just for a few seconds. What didn´t deploy was the passenger´s side airbag just the one on the driver´s door did.

Do you know if the speed indicator(don't know the exact word) stop at the speed it was when there is an impact? to show to the policeman the speed the car was going at the moment of the impact or it's just a coincidence on the picture?
