Although I was there, this video doesn't do the speed of the SLR any justice. The pitstraight where the lap starts and ends is only 400m, as are each of the others, and just see the time it takes to cover those short straights.

Anyhow, enjoy, I think it si one of the better pvt videos around.

Oh thanks for this one.. I always read the circuit was booked for the presentation days and I was wondering why there were no vids around even evo's didn't bring their SLR to Kylami (or simply didn't write about it)

Glad I could eventually contribute something of value.

MBenz also used a national race meeting to show the cars to the South African public. The SLR is not available to ZA.
I went early the SUnday morning after the meet and found the place almost deserted, with only about 5 people around. I took a couple of very interesting photos and 3 very small videos before I was escorted of the terrain by security. However, I have no place to post the photos or the 320x240 videos. The one video clearly shows the SLR down the straight, and it sounds just like a racecar. My Sony F717's video capability sucks big time.

Lastly, this year I celebrate 20years of watching racing at the Kyalami racetrack which is 20 minutes drive from my house. I had the oppertunity to take a bike around the track, also drove my car on the track, and hopefully will be doing the Mini Advanced driver training course this year.

It is booked throughout January every year for testing by international teams, especially Honda Superbikes (with Colin Edwards).
