I agree completely.
Tuning is just a waste of money. Might as well save up the money for a better car...

For me the situaton looks like this: if a car is meant to be cool after tuning, it has to be a cool car in the first place...but cool cars are perfect just the way they are, so naaaah....I hate tuning...especially ricers.

I can accept some nice and light visual tuning on most cars.. you know.. bigger wheels, lower and maybe a nice bodykit (and I'm not thinking about big wings and stuff, but something very similar to original, just taking the car closer to the ground maybe...
Of course many cars can't be touched.. supercars mainly. but nothing wrong in wanting some different rims or such IMO

Ricers are cars for po' boys, we dont necesarily have the money for expensive sports cars, so we have to do what we have to do! And at that, some cant aford new cars either!

Some nice tasteful mods are good, but far to many rice cars
go way to far and become an uninspired piece of sheet metal.
As for performance tuning on the other hand, that's a different
story, I say if it makes the car perform better than it's ok, you
can never have a car that performs to good IMO.

The mistake basically is that lately ricer = tuning while there is some top stuff tuning IMO...
People attacking ever sort of visual modification calling it "rice" seem a bit over-sensible IMO..
Here many MANY cars have at least some new rims.. and I don't think you can call that rice

Rice IMO is when somebody transform his car adding big wings, flared arches and so on.. and then he has a 1.4 engine under the bonnet
But an Honda Civic, lowered with moderation, with wheels some 1 or 2" bigger and a nice muffler is tuned and not riced out always IMO

1.4, lol, lots of those around! I like it when people with cars with V8s make fun of my little nissan, but little do they know the SR20DEs gonna get 'em every time!

I think that tuning is good only when it is known that the factory part is not good. I mean, raising HP dramatically is dumb. But fitting a new air filter or intake or turbo timers, which dont drastically affect the car, is ok.

Tuning is very different from RICE.
There are sometime very good reasons for changing the wheels. Belive it or not, they are an area that you can save a huge amount of weight. The fact that the weight has been saved on the wheels makes a huge difference to the handling. In terms of getting larger wheels, you can fit larger brakes beind them. If you have done a lot to your car then it may need larger brakes.
Personally, I would never tounch the bobywork of a car. Although, a small car sitting on 17's will look like its on stilts, therefore some skirts e.t.c will fix that.
Remember, a lot of cars are designed to economical and comfy, so, in order to get the most out of an engine mods are required.
Some may say, why spend the money on a car when you can just buy a standard, quicker car? If you are asking that, then you have missed the whole point for them. The last thing they want is a car identical to 1000's of other people. The end result will reflect their themselves, in a way that no standard car can.
It is fair to say that some people IMO have no sense of car design, when they are adding this and that spoiler e.t.c. But what is wrong with tuning a Cosworth? It probably gets the blokes who own it out of the firing line of the wife! (I say wife, as to be able to afford Cossy insurance you have to be of a certain age!)
So, in short, I have no problem with 'tuning', in fact, done properly I think the results are great.

You have real tuning tuning i mean engine tuning chassis tuning en weight reduction that is good.
And have styling ricers who do only styling a bit like fit 24 inch wheels and shit and fit big ice systhems i hate this sort of tuning crap.

The only tuning I accept is the one where you replace known bad stock parts. But changing the style ading wings and changin seats to lighter more unconfortable ones for a regular day car use is RICE. Why change seats to more uncomfortable ones is you dont use that car for racing?
