I'm surprised that Tiff Needell drives a BMW 545i. I would have thought it'd be something more............exotic?

well I think its a good thing. I always considered him the closest thing to JC that 5th Gear ever had....but he was better than JC because he wasnt so annoying.

They always used to stick him with the lesser cars then they gave Tiff and Jason but you know what: His reviews were STILL more interesting.

Case in point: Jasons 5th Gear review of the Lotus Europa is now in a tie with his review of the new BMW 3-series awhile back as the single worst bit of television I have EVER seen....and that includes the movie Gigli with J-ho and Benifer!!!!

I bet if Tom Ford had reviewed the Lotus Europa it would have been considerably more entertaining. Dont get me wrong, Jason has his moments (most of them when he teams up with Tiff)....but overall he has WAY too many misses. He just isnt "made for TV". About half the time I find his reviews to be utterly boring and completely uninteresting. About 1/4 of the time they are marginally alright, and about 1/4 of the time they are good.

Tom Ford, on the other hand, almost never gives a boring review. He almost always points out several interesting things about the car. He appears unbiased. He also has an obvious passion for the car in general.

I honestly think Jason and Vicki should go, Tom should take over, and Tiff should become "The Tiff" and do nothing but drive for lap times. Then they should hire me as the "3rd guy" to take up space with sarcastic comments and such.

Yup, he's been writing for TG for a while now.. He is a good journalist, nice to hear he's become "deputy editor"

Maybe in time the 5th Gear show will be run by him.

As has been said a few times, he has been writing for TG mag for many months now - maybe even years if my memory serves me correctly.

I too think he could be a candidate for TG telly if one of the current presenters has to leave for some reason.

Shockingly poor decision by fiveTV management. The guy usually presentats a saturday morning football show on which hes pretty good, but hes just way out of his depth on fifth gear, and seems comletely wooden infront of camera.

I dont think he is helped by the fact they appear to have emplyed a range of garden furniture as the scriptwriters for the show.

I wouldn't call him wooden... he's trying WAY, WAY too hard. He says retarded things, does retarded things, and he's always grinning and smiling like a spanner. He contributes nothing.

Bugs the hell out of me.

I agree, although to be honest the three TG presenters play off eachother very well. They have a certain chemestry on air that just makes the show fun to watch. Some of my favoirte segments are the challenges with the three clowns. I just laugh my ass off every time. I worry that, even though Tom Ford is a great presenter and deserves a spot on TG because of it, his inclusion would destroy the dynamic of the other three that helps make TG what it is. I really just think Tom should take over 5th Gear completely and save it from getting binned. After all, competition is good for all of us right. As much as we all chide 5th Gear Im sure all of us would rather see it get better then get binned.

I'd honestly rather see them add an American, if anybody, to the cast of Top Gear just to change things up a bit and give JC somebody to really hate. Just imagine, for example, if they did a guest host and put Richard Petty or some other "famous" NASCAR driver in there. I can only imagine how funny that would be!!! If they had Richard Petty in ANY of the past "challenges" I can just imaigne myself pissing in my pants laughing.
