I don't know about the gearbox issue. The gearbox mentioned here clearly is the one in this concept. BMW doesn't provide technical details of a production version when the car is still called concept. It would be strange to specify any options as well, since you can't order a concept. So I have still hope there's a choice for either a manual or an SMG gearbox in the eventual production version M5.

I just hope if they do a manual box and SMG that they dont spend all the money and time developing the SMG and then just wack a dog af a manual in for those who are die hards for a manual.
If the torque levels are only slightly up on the current M5 then maybee they might be able to use a revised version of the current 6 speed box. (Although this one aint too good, but adequate)

Damn...I've been waiting for this thing to come out, but now I'm not so sure I'm even very interested in it. No Manual gearbox, what the hell? I mean, I'm sure it will be fast, but nowhere near as much fun as a stick.

The car looks great, it is definetly going to take its crown back although according to my opinion and many car magazines it never lost it. I ve heard rumors about more than 500 bhp. Ok in a way i can agree with people not liking the design of the e60 but this car looks and it should drive great. The smg is a great gearbox and i think people should stop being prejudiced against it and open their eyes into the future. I cant wait to see it, i am thinking of going to the geneva motor show where i heard it is going to make its first appearance.

Imagine how the M6 will look like, i cant wait

7-speed gearbox. Choose between manual and SMG III.

250 km/h limiter can now be taken off by choise. This option will be introduced on the M3 CSL.
