The picture was supposedly just taken.

I think it's a test mule too. It doesn't have the side grill, but it's got the dual exhaust and the guy that took the picture said it had huge brakes too.

Lastly, it said it got out of town with major quickness when the driver saw him taking pictures...while normally that would be understandable, this guy has dealer plates. Those look like pretty low profile tires too...lower than a standard 5 series. As for the rake, it's just the angle of the picture, I think.

I'm guessing that they filled the grills and pulled the emblems to try to be more covert while using it...wonder where it was going and where it was coming from...

WOW THAT IS NICE those wheels seem a bit big i like the way when its moving fast the wheels look pushed in but black wheels rock like smoke it looks hella nice also its debadged only the logo is still on there right? in the pic toprpm showed us if you look close enough it is actually raised on the tail and the exhaust is double instead of the single but you cant see the air flow hole in the middle as it is blackened out and also as you can see the trunk is extended longer for the M5 rather then the regular picture and there is also a really small reflector on the standard 5 Series bumper that would probably be visible if it was there on the M5 as it is on the highway and the corner of the bumper has a reflection so the light would have reflected so there for it most likely is a M5 also around the wheels it sticks out and goes in but on the regular 5 series it doesnt

I would believe it is a test mule. I can recall on numerous occasions seeing cars that arent out yet or are concepts around the area. I saw a new 6 series BMW a few weeks ago on PCH with some odd stuff on it for disguise, unfortunately I didnt have my camera though.

Looks like someone else saw it too:

If you look at the picture with the wheel & brakes, you can see that what looks like a "patch" piece was used to fill in the hole where the side grill used to be. It's definately the new M5 being "covertly" used on the roads, through a dealer plate. I'm guessing this might even be the same one...pictured in the first link. Big oil cooler, big wheels, big brakes, dual exhaust, patch piece for the side grill, it's the E60 M5. I love the automotive industries "secretness" sometimes. They went as far as to pull the side grills...

Since there's another one in the parking lot also, I'm guessing there might be a handful motoring around in LA...

I can't wait till they release this car now. I have got used to the looks of the car and really like the aggressive lines + those huge brakes + the black wheels + the engine, the list goes on...
