why does the m3 csl doesnt sell in the us ??

I belive one reason why they didn`t sell in US is that they only made 400.333 because you may have some strict environment rules.(BTW mazda rx8 has 240 or smth in us but in europe only 231hp)

I'm almost certain it's cause of emissions and safety regulations. I think it's possible for someone to import one, possibly through a dealership, but that would cost a fairly hefty sum.

the emission standards have been upped or even the fact of safety as the trunk is card board its the same concept as the Porsche GT3

I live in US and i really don't really see the point of bringing CSL here.

I think alot of ppl would prefer alternate choice due to the extra 15k over the normal M3 sticker. I don't know about the US version, but the one Topgear tested has no A/C, no radio, the trunk can't hold heavy stuff.....so praticality is kinda low.

The reason the M3 CSL is not sold in the US is simple... all of your roads are straight.

The CSL is only slightly quicker in a straight line than the standard car, but much faster in the corners... whats the use of that in America.

PS... In Europe there are more people who will appreciate the car than in the US,,, i may seem anti-american, but i am sure BMW did market research before coming to a decison and figured it would be better to sell it exclusively in Europe

I'm guessing that the limited production didn't justify the federalization costs of bringing it here...I doubt emissions was that much of a problem...it's based on the regular S54 motor...

Do they have to re-crash it for DOT? That might be an issue too, since it's pretty limited in numbers.

lol thats so true , imo it would be wasted in the States even if it did pass the ridiculous emissions and other assorted checks the US authorities subject vehicles too.

I used to envy Americans for having so much consumer choice and things being so much cheaper than over here (europe - Uk < where i am)

but having seen what y'all forgo in terms of automobillia i think im aight where i am!

It is funny that JC said on the video that his had no A/C or radio, yet when they showed the video shot of the inside of the car both the A/C and the radio were there. From an article that I read about the M3 CSL, neither the radio nor the A/C come standard but are available at no cost extras.
