A couple of cars that my school has.

Well I decieded to take pics of 2 of the Audi's our school has, sadly the A4 was locked up in back and I couldn't get to it.

note no license plates, the car is NOT allowed to be driven off school property, you can't even get a title for the car if you tried.
also this is car number Like 249 I'll get a pic when I go back next week.

this has plates but we still can't drive the thing anywhere. (don't know why they have them really)







And I figured you guys might like to see a trashed Cavalier (we did it over the summer)

LOL thanks for the pics, but I think I understand the cars are owned by your school.. and indeed as you are wondering.. why?!?! Is the school area (campus or whatever), that big?

this is one of 3 campuses and this is the largest at 4.5 square miles but it's not all used at the moment but they are building more right now, A new 6 million USD Engineering building and a new 7.2 million USD Automotive technology building with 14 lifts :shock:
complete with classrooms, student lounge, computer lab, and I think some other classrooms for general classes. There is a large agricultural field where they grow stuff aswell.

The car's are donated from Audi's training facility since they get new ones 4 months before they are released to the public and they usually sell the cars as Demo's (demonstration) or donate them to schools. We used to have an Audi Twin-Turbo V8 but it doesn't seem to be around anymore. We do have a Tranny from them at the moment aswell.

We also get cars from GM on occasion along with some nice Cadillac engines.

so what exactly are they used for on a day-to-day basis??
driven by teachers/lecturers around campus? used for automotive research of some sort?
for touring high profile newcomers? 8)

Actually we take them apart and look at them then put them back together.
The A6 was taken fully apart before down to the frame and then put back together and I have to say they did one amazing job nothing can be found wrong on the car the doors close nicely all the lines are perfect, the interior still smells like new.

We use them mainly for Brakes, Electrical and Transmissions (wonder why) classes.

what the hell - why use a brand new perfectley working car, you're school must have money!

It's better to know how to work on modern cars just as much as older cars and we have them all old carbed engines to modern engines like 5V Audi engines and Ford 4.6, some Northstars, so it can't hurt.

P.S. you might have noticed there is an older 5-series next to the Cavalier.

Does the school buy the cars or are they donated?

All donated that's why the A6 is like number 249 or something, the companies donate the cars/engines and use it as a tax write off, and they look at it as an investment in technicians Audi comes in all the time recruiting and if you decied to work for them they pay you to go to school and work at a local Audi dealership then you go to their training facility and train for a year or more depending on the level you want and you are guaranteed a 3 year contract starting at $35,000 and a purchasing plan for their vehicles, along with $6000 worth of Snap-On tools. I'm considering that route. You can go up to a VAG Master Mechanic which is someone who travels the country going to different dealerships and these guys know everything about every car from the company, they go to train every year for 3 weeks in Germany, and make $100,000 plus.
Them and specific A8 mechanics are the only ones who are allowed to work on major problems with the new A8's (I'm sure it's the same with the Phaeton)

Another perk of going to the school is that we have an account with a local Auto Parts store and get stuff for 40% off and we have a purchase plan with Snap-On (which are from this area) for 50-65% off all their tools and other products as long as you are a student.
