Tuned supecars?

Hi guys! I've just seen a video about a Diablo tunned...I'd like to know what do you think about tunned supercars ( ferraris, lambos, pagani... ).
My opinion is that these cars are simply perfect, and I think that any change you can do on them will ruin them. I'm very classic in that sense...

these cars should not be touched and anyone that does should be......its not a good thing. the are perfect as they are. they dont need turbos and whining super charges

I have seen a video of a Ferrari F50 tuned by Koenig...when i saw the title i didnt believe that you could improve apon a Ferrari F50...but the performance was dramatically increased and the sound was unlike anything i have ever heard. And this is comming from a TRUE Ferrari fan. I believe that Ferrari's are the best sounding cars produced...but Koenig did one heck of a job on this F50. So if you can really improve apon the car then i approve of it.

I think tunning supercars is awesome. As long as you know what you're doing its good. Most of them do not need any suspension work, but you can always use more horsepower. If you can add horesepower without ruining the powerband, its awesome because even if you have too much, you dont need to have the pedal pushed down to the floor all the time, just control your throttle and you will be faster in the straights at least. I also like customized exotics because its much more interesting owning something that even fewer people have since most people wouldnt touch a supercar.

I figure if you have the money to buy one to begin with, and you have the money to tune it further, then go ahead. You also have to remember that someone who owns and decides to tune a diablo, isn't just going to throw anything on there from the local autozone like the high school kids. I'm sure they will bring it to a very reputable company or do the necessary research so that they are sure that what is going into it is a good thing.

Well imo, it all really depends on the quality of the tuner. If you let a great tuning company go crazy on an exotic car, you can get even better cars out of it. This does not mean, sticking a giant turbo on a big v12, and watching the hp numbers climb to unatural figures. It means doing a total revamp on the car, so it is better, but it still has total 'balance' If this doesn't make sense, let me know, I'll try to clarify myself (5 in the morning, i really should sleep, another uni final in 2 days :roll

well it depends on the car and how much ur gonna tune it, if it were m car i woudnt do aot of things, just maybe some electronic stuff and smalla things like that just to make it different from the rest. but i would defenitly not want a pupercar with something like 1500 hp or something like that, that would be 2 hard 2 drive, i think

I can't think of a good reason to tune an exotic if I would have one. If I would have bought one I definitely didn't want weird spoilers, stickers or other crap on it. And for the power....it is a supercar, what's there to change, it's allready super.

I don't oppose to the idea itself. It's just that I can't recall a single attempt of a tuner that was successful IMO.

There is a bit of a grey area however. I don't mind if anyone fits a Tubi style exhaust and a different air filter on a Ferrari. Added superchargers or turbo's are another story I think. It's hard to preserve the togetherness and oroginal character of a car if you make such a drastic change IMO. Where it really starts to go horribly wrong is when these tuner dorks turn into designer wannabe's and start adding spoilers etc. If we're talking about tuning on that level I say: don't ever tune supercars!

Well, when you think about it. If someone tunes a Supercar, it means that they'll likely drive it alot, instead of keeping it in a garage, and taking it to the occasional auto show. They're just making an already unique car, more unique. I personally think that's really cool. In the case of the first Koenig F50 owner, he felt that the f50 wasn't enough on the track, so he wanted an upgrade. He seemed very satisfied with the upgrade too (musta been one helluva driver if a stock f50 wasn't enough )

Well I guess unless you own an F1, which is really really fast, any other car in the world would have some potential upgrade that could be done to make it faster in the straight, corners etcetc... Doesn't matter if you paid 10 bucks or 1 million bucks for it.

On the other hand, I do agree that since you bought a super car (and paid a heckuva lot of money), it doesn't make too much sense to modify it too much..

My view is that most cars are made for the average of the intended buyers. That being said, the average of those buying supercars is a narrow range, but it is still designed to work for a wide array of people. To me, tuning is a way of taking a car that roughly fits your style and making it a better fit to your liking. Personalizing it to your taste.

Of course, too many people have taste out thier ass, but that's a different story. My idea of tuning is to make it better FOR ME than the factory offering. If it's not better than factory than why bother, but I am all for tinkering and tuning. If I had money to buy a McLaren F1, I would hope I had money to tune it. Although I think the F1 is about as close to perfect as you can get. With the exception of the Yamaha OX99, of course.

Usually supercars are near perfect. Some very very minor modifications to supercars under 200.000€ can be allowed. I would only trust respected tuners to touch the engine, though.
