HOld up Nth...
A base 997 over a Skyline GTR......I know u dont like the skyline much, but u gotta be kidding.
It looks fat, but the Jap automakers are ultra keen on wieght. It probably wont even be 3600 lbs. Which now days "decent" and much lighter than the GT500 that people keep comparing this with for some reason.
Porsche or no Porsche, The only 997 i would want over the GTR- if it lives up to the name- is a GT3 and up.
Plus its no fun having a Porsche when, you neighbors 70K Nissan, is kicking your ass in every possible catagory......Except resale value - HA

I think that was an R33, and apparently they say it wasn't a stock model too. But I don't really care, as I won't be able to afford a 911 or GTR, plus, fast times on the ring does not equate to being useful on the road which is what most people will be using it for.

I like it. I think it looks pretty hot. I disagree with Nth. I think it looks sleeker than the Skyline that is going out...that was looking bulky to me. I dig it.

I am sure Nissan will like to sell ithe skyline for 70,000, I really doubt they will. In that price range you are talking about a porshe 911. While every kid under 30 may know of the skylines potential (although we will have to see if it meets expectations) it is unlikely that enough of these "kids" can afford a 70,000$ price tag. I just dont see older people chosing a Skyline over a Porsche.

A Porsche is already seen as an old-man's car (menoporsche?). Don't forget that nowadays image is everything.
And this car has some serious cred.

It does'nt matter who likes it or does'nt. If it comes with a GT-R badge there is going to be such a hype and uproar as we all must agree - the GT-R has a hugh notorius following. Meaning people will buy it regardless of price. Which I must say looks pretty exspensive, but like I say, they know it will sell.

The Skyline has a lot of heritage in Japan. The top tuners will all get it and trick it out and all the kids will want it and get them, once they can afford it. Tuning a Porsche in Japan is not as popular, is more expensive and just doesn't happen, compared to cheaper Japanese cars. When it's launched, it'll be a mad dash to turn out the first Monster Skyline.

yes, i would want a slower 997 C2 over a GTR, so sue me
or a 964 911, or a ZR1, Z06 old and new...
the skyline has never done anything for me

It looks alright but I think I prefer the looks of the R34. I like the R34's bulky and boxy exterior. My favorite Skyline would have to be the original. Gimme that with a R34 drivetrain and I would be a happy camper.

^^ That doesnt mean this one wont "do" anything for you. Shanking the car before its even realeased *tisk*
Anyway, if I can afford 70K-80K in a few years, its either gonna be this or the new CSL (if the CSL is in that price range).........Well hold up...by then the current GT3 may actually be affordable, isnt that a thought!

I like it except for the fact that in the videos around the net so far it has an automatic or semi-automatic gearbox rather than a proper manual.
