Corvette Z06 vs Hayabusa
In this month's Best Motoring there is a drag race between a Corvette Z06 and a Suzuki Hayabusa....
Beginning of the race:
Few seconds later.......
It is impressive how fast the bike can accelerate

Do you have a link to the vid...? I'd like to see it, although duh the bike is going to be faster than the car in a straight line, the real test would be to put them on a circuit and see which is faster! 8)

This is a stupid comparison.
Pure waste of film and energy.
Even a 1990 750cc bike would blow a Z06 (or any other sub 900hp car) into the weeds - so what chance would a a car have against a new open class bike?
Bikes have been in the 0-60 in 2 and 3s range for over a decade already.
Stock 10 and 11s 1/4 mile bikes have been around for a5 years already.

Loosen the fuck up. You seem to get upset over anything involving a Z06, especially if it looses to something or has a bad comment.
This video just shows the difference between the performance of fast cars and fast bikes in a straight line.
|
Uhm.. my response had NOTHING to with the cra being a Z06.
It had to do with and car vs a sport bike.
So how about you take that hateful political hat off and appologise for jumping a stupid conclusion.
The pointlessness of a "fast car vs fast bike" is just that pointless.
As pointed out a 1990 sport bike would destroy any sub 900hp modern sports car - any sports car.
Note how I say Even a 1990 750cc bike would blow a Z06 - even an idiot could see I was not "protecting" te Z06, but rather pointing out the stupidity of such a test - and this the "Sportbike rider" coming out in me.
Now back to the regular scheduled programming.

What does a Hayabusa do to 100mph? 5.X? Not even a McLaren F1 can live with that.
The only point of doing a Bike vs Car comparison is to show just how fast a Bike is, not how slow a car is, if that makes sence. It's OBVIOUS that the Bike will win the dragrace, so this isn't about putting the Z06 down, but rather saying "this is how fast a fast bike is compared to a very fast car".
I think that Insane, not RC45, should loosen up.

Exactly! The hayabusa is the Veyron (maybe more) under the bikes!
They should have compared a less powerfull motorcycle like a 600 cc one, then the power to weight ratio would have been fair!
So TeflonTron is right, loosen up Insane!

^A hard ridden bike will still show a hard driven car it's exhaust on a racetrack, unless the car is raceprepped, or is something extreme, like a CGT, or Westfield/Caterham, etc.

Even a 600cc bike would blow most sports cars into the weeds - for the last 7 or 8 years they have been able to click off high 10s 1/4 miles @ almost 130mph... that is quick.
So even attempting to line up an open class bike with a car is a truely pointless excercise.
A well riden Busa can do a mid to high 9 s 1/4 at almost 150mph... that's very very very fast.

Isnt the Ninja ZX-14 faster then the busa? I saw a recent 1/4mile race where a lightly modded busa lost to a stock zx-14

^^ Yes - and the bar keeps getting raised - and as point of reference it takes something like a Twin Turbo Viper pushing 1000rwhp to run those type of times

But what about on a track? I seem to remember some article from an Aussie mag where they drove a C5 Z06 against a sport bike on a circuit and if the car wasn't faster than the bike it was almost as fast...which is pretty surprising since the Z06 isn't that hardcore and obviously is much slower in the straight-line region...
