Yep... the "fake" concept car was a rather stupid idea.

Since when embarrassing and ridiculing your readers the way to go?

More than the readers, it should be the other car magazins that must be embarassed I don't feel embarassed at all... and I think that this 'joke' is indeed quite interesting
Nope - their latest issue has a "scoop" of the Ferrari Dino on the cover.

Perhaps that is a lie as well.

Obivously if I was a subscribing member of winding road I would be disappointed by ficticious news articles and I think there credibility will suffer because of this. If Evo magazine was ever found out for doing this I would be really annoyed as I like to think I gain factual knowledge from my £4 every month.

Yeah, their credibility will definitely suffer, but so will all the other magazines for printing out the same stuff.

Well - normally the press will print shared info in good faith.

You are being oversensitive because the joke was done using a Corvetto.

Take it easy.

And the fact that they're your main competitor

They weren't the only ones who had a "scoop" of the Dino either.. I believe someone here posted something from Evo about the new Dino.

But I don't think you guys should be attacking WR, you guys should put your energy into making 0-100 and back a great online magazine.

wtf??? I think the magazine delivers superb quality and it's even free...

don't give a fuck if the dino feature wasn't 100% true due to a misinformed writer.

No, it has nothing to do with it being a Corvette, or if it were a Lotus, or a Lamborghini; it all comes down to the same thing; they have spent thier legitimacy on disinfranchiesment.

which furthers my point

Free does not equate to being worth anything; and this article about the faux camoflauge Corvette SS is the shot, the time of death, and the final nail in the coffin of beinga legitimate magazine, even if entirely free and online.

Remember, your time spent reading it ISN'T free; and ultimately, if you want them to continue thier useless tripe making idiots of those all over the automotive industry; yet rely on those same people for revenue, then sure; keep subscribing. Philosophies like this aren't a one time deal.

Dutchmaster:
Oh, we're focused, Issue 2 will be a blowout!
I'm starting to concider that WR isn't our competitor at all...
We don't do news
we don't do boring cars
we don't do it from the same perspective

the truth is, I was a regular WR reader up until now... I had nothing against them, and wouldn't think of bashing them like this until I feel they crossed the line. I buy way too many automotive periodicals every month; and read several online variants out there...
This is not about us vs. them; it is about disenfranchiesing thier reader base, the people out there in the weather (both good and bad) wasting time trying to shoot some unseen car before, costing them money, making a fool of the manufacturer who provide the journalists with cars... it is just so incredibly wrong on so many levels.

No other magazine would ever attempt such a sleazey move.

Zippo:

this isn't about the new Dino at all; but the faux Corvette SS in camo they took out to create news, and write a story about faking the news. But, who knows, thier Dino news may be faux as well? where does it end? where do the fact's start?
