One of the coolest 4 door sedans ever.
However, IMO the 80s M5 (E28?) and the 91-93 M5 are cooler than the V8 E39. I think the 3.8l straight six is the best of the bunch. The E28 car is the wildest of the bunch - no traction control, etc - you better know how to drive if you want to mash the throttle in this bad boy. The E60 car looks crappy and is too techno laden for my liking
Pretty good used buy - I think you can a decent one for between $35-45K. Properly maintained this car should last 200k miles easily.
To me, a refined bahnstormer like the M5 embodies a sports saloon more than itsy bitsy Evos or Scoobys. I think I am too old to appreciate these two Jap cars despite the fact they are probably the fastest point to point cars on the road.
A refined M5 for day to day use and a Ferrari/old school Porsche for fun would be an excellent pair of cars to own.
Overall rating - Cool!

SZ in my book no doubt about that! So simple looks yet so beautiful, just love all about it - rims, decent 4x pipes, engine note, decent body changes and spoilers, interior.... just everything.

subzero, I really like this M5, it is what brought the M5 the popularity that it now has. I love it

It's a cool car. It combines stately elegance with the look of sportiness, raw power and speed.

Really cool car, but not subzero for me. Saloon cars just aren't that easy subzero for me, I don't feel this car like a subzero car. But definitely cool
