Buying a Renault 5 GT Turbo in Germany

Thats the point

Once Im very satisfied with my current Opel Vectra 2.0 in terms of reliability but not very sportive, its very clear for me that the next second car is going to be a 90s turbocharged hot hatch.

Here in Spain there are two options, a renault 5 GT Turbo which costs 2500€ at least although the car is rusted, exhausted, in very very bad conditions....even here people are able to pay 6000€ for a GT turbo

The second option consists on buying another equivalent one (the hot hatches fiat and lancia, or the ford hot hatches; I mean, the Fiat Uno Turbo/Punto GT, the Lancia Delta HF Turbo, the Ford Escort RS turbo, or the ford fiesta turbo) for half of the price; but my favourite car is the Renault 5, and other cars never will be the renault 5 although the purchase is more sensible

As a result, and having a look at the german car sales websites, Ive realised that its possible to find a equivalent renault 5 GT Turbo for 1000€

Considering that to lower the car kilometers is seriously punished in Germany, the car revisions are more severe in sites such as TUV, normally there is more culture in terms of car maintenance with the proper spare parts and so on, I think that its worth going to Germany on holidays, get the car, change the car owners name, get the proper documentation in order to be a road legal out of Germany, get the car to Spain in truck, train or whatever, and so on......that at the end of the day its cheaper buying the car in Germany rather than in Spain

What do you think about it?, perhaps for many people the idea is a bit crazy and risky, but IMO its worth the plan considering that you are going to buy just the renault 5

BTW Dani, do you know someone interested in selling a renault 5 gt turbo, once you know people from a GT Turbo club?

However, I cant guarantee still if Im going to buy the renault 5, and when, nonetheless, for me its clear that the next car is going to be an old turbo hot hatch one as a second one; just for having fun at the weekend; when the car is repaired or broken, Ill drive the vectra

Thanks a million for your help; yeah, as far as I can see the prices on the german market it seems that the car is not very popular there although there should be less renault 5 there and limited to the 115cv version since the 120cv version was replaced by the GTE aspirated version due to the emissions (although the car looks exactly the same inside; as I said in the post before, its even possible to find a GT Turbo for 1000€ which you dont have anything here under 3000 €

Ill have a look at the french market more thoroughly since I realised that the price is similar to here although I havent searched the french market very carefully

On the other hand, every either turbo hot hatch is a bargain compared to the renault 5; even the newer Fiat Punto GT or the Ford Fiesta turbo are quite cheaper although they are less usual to see on the road and more modern; see what happens with the purchase since I like all of them; however, after the renault 5 my favourite car is its bigger brother, the renault 11 turbo

Hi again; Ive been having a look at the renault 5 offers in the french market (not very thoroughouly, though), and actually the prices are not very different

However, Ive seen mostly two clear differences:

First of all, there are more cars available on sale

Secondly, many of them are the stock one, as I like them, and it seems that the cars are in better conditions

Nonetheless; do you think guys that the 80s or 90s hot hatches in Spain compared to Europe are like black or white; I mean, the cars are restored (a very few of them, and of course, they are not on sale), or the cars are in very very bad conditions?
