For only 5ps more? yikes, unless its a simple air filter or something? It hardly looks worth any money to me.... but being from here where simply changing an air filter yields about 5hp...

anyway if I were to guess, its worth about just shy of a 10th of a second in the 1/4 mile run...

no no no, it's not about tuning the engine! There are two line because a less powerfull one is offered in some countries for tax sake.

Just the engine in general.

Aren't the HP & Torque curves supposed to interesect at 5250rpm? Loks like the 3 scales are different.. so its difficult to comment on e them.

^ It depends on a lot of things, plus it's a diesel engine 5250 rpm would be hard to get

All I wanted was comments on the engine capabilities, nothing else.

Looks good, full boost at about 1500 means loads of relaxed 6th gear action. Seems like a pretty decent engine, even keeps building power right to the cutoff. Obviously got a nice big turbo just waiting to be let loose. How much can you get from a reflash?

^ At least 160. I was two exaples on @ 165hp 365nm, and the other 169nm 380+nm ..pretty tempting

If I get to flash it I wouldn't go for a crazy hp number 160 max but I would like to get that torque curve as flat as possible

....let's say 350nm all the way : ))

We are not comparing, I just asked for some comments on the engine's performance.

Hmm.. I don't believe it depends on anything - the math used to derive the power of an engine is calculated from the torque.. and as such I do believe the constant involved means the power and torque would cross at 5250 - of course an imaginery interseciton if the revs and power dont reach that level.

Hmmm.. I will need to research further into this one.

I don't get it

Diesle's aren't that fast in general... Jabba drove BMW's version, and liked it... but i'm not one for oil burners

I don't know what's so hard to get!?
I just wanted some thought on what you think about a 140hp 305nm engine, nothing else. I would like the moderator to delete this post, cause obviously it's confusing and therefore useless. I don't know why.

Thanks anyway.

its making 80ish hp at peak torque (where it feels fast) and 140 hp where the torque tapers off a bit... that is the nature of turbo diesles...

Maybe I'm wrong but I think thepest just wants some comments on what everyone thinks of that engine from looking at the power curve!

I think it looks like a pretty fun engine if you like diesels and lots of torque. In the right light weight car I bet that torque curve would make for great passing. But then you have that diesel sound to deal with...
