GT2 VS. FERRARI 430 SCUDERIA
The world is unlikely to see another GT2 in five years’ time. The pace of environmental politics makes even this crazed 911’s 0-100mph time of 7.4sec seem quite ordinary.

The only way for vehicles like the Porsche and new 430 Scuderia to survive is by forging a new direction formed around low emissions – in particular, low mass and cleaner engines. Both cars make concessions to overall mass in being lighter than the cars on which they are based, but then in their current forms, both produce CO2 in quantities that will doubtless soon be unacceptable.

So this is a celebration of what the super-sports car has become in late 2007: outrageously fast and supremely competent. But it could also become an epitaph for a way of making high-performance cars that will soon end.

And the verdict: Forza Scuderia. There can be no doubt that of these two new arrivals, it’s the Ferrari that has you reaching more frequently for hyperbole. That’s as much to do with the sheer enthusiasm it draws from any driver as the fact that I think it’s the best road car the company currently sells. The GT2 is blunter, less affable – more a brooding presence that occasionally shocks you with bouts of barely contained velocity.

The Scuderia also sits more easily with that future framework. It is lighter and it has a transmission that the GT2 would certainly benefit from.

For driver enjoyment, a GT3 RS does a better job than the GT2 because there are so few roads on which it is possible to use the performance, and when you do find a circuit the chances are the car will still feel too quick. Think of it as a loveable thug. Whereas the Ferrari is plain wonderful….

Havent driven the GT2 yet (but with a bit of luck that will chenge soon), but after driving Scuderia I find it har to belive that 911 GT2 coud be better. That any car could be better in that role (hardcore sportscar) ...

They have a very similar performance but they're very different cars and both very good. Even if the Ferrari is better there will always be a lot of people who will prefer the scary GT2.
