Don't be a smart ass. The so called caveman tech engine produces 800hp and has to last 4 to 5 hours of gruelling endurance racing, not to mention that it needs to be able to be turned on and off on track in any condition. It maybe based on old design, but there's nothing caveman about the current engines. "Sprint Cup Engine has a mean piston speed of 24.75 m/s (roughly that of a Formula One engine.)"

Not really, there are silly drivers to do silly things.... like 3 2ide into Turn 1, but boats? Hardly. Faster then a GT2 car, unlikely, but definitely not boat like handling.

Yes stock cars are very fast... but in comparison with cars which are engineered strictly for road racing in mind...
And one of these on the 'Ring? The 800hp would only be used on the last straight.
But one of these on the street would be fucking hilarious.

Considering that I've been in a few cars 800 hp + .... 800 HP is usable more then just in the last straight... yes, you have to break earlier, yes you have to have a better right foot to keep the ass from swinging out...
Additionally, for 50-80k, I don't believe for one second that there is a 800 hp engine under the hood.... 400-600 supercharged.... perhaps.

Yeah. They probably won't have the racing engine. Impractical and costly.

They do have road cource races in NASCAR, you know. They don't go straight off at every corner as you'd expect.
But yeah. They're a lot slower than they are on banked ovals.

The "COT" cars are fatter than the previous cars, but they're still only about 3400 pounds. 3400 lbs is a porker in race car terms, but in the grand scheme of things, that's much lighter than a (current) 3 series. Add much better rubber and racing suspension and the car is plenty capable even if its not on the same level as a dedicated road racer or open wheel car.

Soo now a 3400 pound car with 800 hp is the titanic? So does the Evo X and new 135i fall into that category as well given their similar curb weights?

Any current 24 hr Leman car will kick any nascar car ass. Racing around an oval isn't as hard and dynamic as in a real racetrack...then again they dont call nascar fans "rednecks" for nothing. Nascar cars only have 4 gears!! At this day and age!! My 17 year old nissan 240sx has 5!!

Sorry, but it was the dirt tracks, wood boards, and bricks that started racing nearly 100 years ago. Why on earth would we not use those tracks to continue racing on with today's high tech race cars?
Years ago, when a car did fantastic in Europe, it would come to the US to ride the boards... and when a car did well in the US, it would go to Europe to race against the factory teams on their GP's, and city streets.
One of the first US cars to go to Europe was nothing other then the famous Packard 299 race car driven by Ralf DePalma around 1916. Not only did the Packard have the strongest engine, it had who many considered to be the best driver... who managed to whoop the Euro factory cars/ teams/ drivers with a low production (one of two) 299 CID 60 degree OHC V12, and chassis to suite it...all across the old world
